Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said Monday that he's been in talks with Chad Johnson, but wouldn't give much detail.

"I've talked to Chad a few times," Lewis said. "My conversations with Chad this year have been no different than they were a year ago." The Bengals' offseason conditioning program began Monday, and as expected, he was a no-show. The program is voluntary, so the act of skipping isn't reprehensible.

Bengals coach Marvin Lewis reiterated on NFL Network's Total Access Monday that Chad Johnson will not be traded.

"If he wants the chance to play professional football, he's got to do it right here in Cincinnati," Lewis said, comparing the situation to Kobe Bryant's. "Do your part, put the team on your back, and go to work," Lewis added.
