We're not going to have a go-to receiver on this team because we don't have an number one. The ball will be spread around. Its the same thing that Belichick and Tom Brady do up in New England. If you get open, your going to get the ball. They don't care about the name of the back of the jersey.

Maj, I think you mean that Ginn is Penny's 3rd of 4th option, not the other way around.

Ginn seems to be so damn hot and cold. Guess more looks would be what it takes to get him into the rythem of the game?

Camarillo sure seemed to catch most of those out patterns in front of Paymah. Just makes sense to go after the guy replacing Champ Bailey. Bly would be a #1 CB on a lot of teams.

 

Even though Paymah had a bad game, I think he just might be a better DB than Bly. Just my opinion.

I don't know about that, unless the team is desperate for a DB. He's not a very good player.

 

I know there was one play where Ginn beat his man at the line and Chad looked over was hesitant and threw it to someone else. On this play I think Ginn was his 2nd or 3rd read

 

If Ginn cathces the drop he had he'd have one more reception and another 13 yards or so. That would have meant he had what 4 catches for 51 yards? Not too bad really is it?

 

Chad DID go deep..once, and even overthrew Ginn.

Camarillo is flat out consistent, and its clear, Chad is very comfortable throwing to him.

Just as his interception off the miscue with Ginn, was relative to their chemistry, or rather the limitations consequently impeding their production.

 

That was a huge drop at the time (for a first down) and it was a huge mistake not to trail inside on that pick. Who cares about what the numbers are or what they could be, really.

 

Too bad Chad got credited with that pick Ginn was supposed to cut back inside

 

I just think Pennington is a timing and route guy and if you have a guy that can't run tight precise routes consistently he avoids them. Pennington was clearly pissed after Ginn apparently ran the wrong route. I can't blame Pennington not throwing to a guy that doesn't do his job well to one that always does. Just goes to show that the high pick guys aren't always the best. We'll see what Ginn does and I hope he returns to last week's production but if he can't run routes he'll just waste his amazing talent as a WR. Let's hope that doesn't happen.

 

It's gotta all be about practice too.. If they made connections and had their timing in practice, I'm sure you'd see more of Ginn being the number 1 option and there would be a tendency by Chad to throw his way. It's not rocket science and its not a conspiricy, the switch just hasn't been flipped in Teddy Ginns brain.

 

Oh stop, you can't see what Ginn is doing on TV. I did see Ginn drop a big play that could of cost us big.

Ginn is growing and getting better, let it be. Pennington is the Team MVP right now, that last drive was cool, calm and masterful!

Gin is doing fine, and its not Pennington fault everytime Ginn does not get 110 yards

 

Ted Ginn is what he is, a speed guy whose route running is raw but has decent hands for a speed Wr.

Ahh...fans...last week "Did Ginn finally breakout"? This week, he is Renaldo Nehemiah..a track star trying to play football in the NFL...:)

 

I think its a lot of things that combine for Ginn not getting more looks. I'm still not sure he is getting off press coverage on a consistent basis. It's hard to tell watching on tv but he doesn't seem to consistently get seperation from the DB covering him. And there still seems to be some confusion with him about how to run routes the way Pennington is expecting.

I also think Pennington is just inherently conservative with the ball. Ginn's strength is as a downfield threat and its just not a high % play. Pennington doesn't have the mentality that a Marino, Cutler, Favre, etc have, which is to be aggressive and push the ball downfield first and foremost. Combine that with Camarillo's effectiveness and consistency and you have Ginn not even being looked at over half the time.

It's one thing to not throw it to Ginn. What frustrates me is not even going through your progressions and giving him a look. Though I can't complain too much. We are moving the ball fairly well through the air, at least well enough to pull out some wins. The bigger concern I have offensively is our ineffective running game.

He is far from being a #1 CB on ANY team, unless you ask him of course, in which case, he is second in talent only to Champ Bailey:up:

 

dre bly covered ginn for most of the game, but was also moved around to safety also... since all of our recievers are average we have basically played the matchup on their weakest corner... ginn vs. paymah = ginns unsound route running produces 1 int for paymah... camarillo vs. paymah = camarillos crisp routes speaks for itself

 

True, but Ginn can go from Mark Duper to Mr. Invisible in a week, his consistency is in the toilet, and I love the guy as a player.

I think we should put him back on Kick Return duties full time, I like Bess, but we need to squeeze production out of our Special Teams units, Bess is not really getting the job done.

Ginn may be inexperienced because he has not been given the opportunities. I think this regime is intent on making players earn their place and Ginn is now showing that he can be an impact player.

If that is the case, I am glad that Sparano and company waited. Ginn is now showing that he is a contender.

 

He has trouble getting off the line running a basic route on a consistant basis and you want to send him in motion?

 

For the record, I am warming on Ginn now that I am understanding more of what he actually is.

He will NEVER be a number 1 reciever, plain and simply, and that is okay. IT is NOT his fault he was picked #9 overall, and we couldve done better (Pat Willis) but we sure as hell couldve done a whole lot worse.

Contrary to what I have been saying, I think he WILL continue to be a key cog to the overall team. He might not ever lead the team in Receptions..but hen again, he might.
He might not ever lead the team in YAC, but then again, he might.

If he can get his head back in the game, he is definately our best PR/KR....

I am coming around, and yes, I DO think that Ted Ginn is gonna help overall win this team some Titles. I still think they need a very solid #1 WR across from him, but he will be a key contributor.

 

People are magnifying Ginn's mistakes, even a person who dislikes Ginn can say that. He's a first round pick so he has to play like Calvin Johnson, tsk tsk...

I seen Fasano drop two passes that could have cost us big but no one is talking about that.

Ginn dropped a pass, that's his first dropped pass that I can think of and I have watched EVERY game. One dropped pass through eight games? I can live with that...

I laugh at the people who say Ginn can't be a number one receiver... I'm not saying he will, but saying a person can't be a number one receiver? Pretty naive when it's halfway through his second year... Steve Smith is similar to Ginn, he's a number one receiver. Why can't Ginn be a Steve Smith?

Yeah right, I doubt any of you paid that much attention to Steve Smith when he a rookie and I bet you don't look much at Steve Smith... Except maybe his statline if he's on your fantasy football team...

only time i see us putting a receiver in motion is when we bring a receiver to the line right before the snap. Which i hate by the way, all it does is add another defender to the box.

 

Food for thought:

Our "maligned" WR core has now produced two different 100 yard receivers in consecutive weeks.

That's pretty dang good, in my book.
