sorry... couldn't help myself... how it works? well, in a nutshell... we each take a team, tabulate their salaries using the NFLPA website (right GIK?), then we're given a salary cap that we all have to be under, then free agency starts and there are bids, and you can trade, and there's a draft.. and then you finalize your roster... all in about what 2 months... of course, there's a lot of posting and laughing at other GM's especially Gish...
The Titans had no interest in him at all. I live in Tampa and probably know the Bucs as well as anyone. He fumbled alot and was scared to get hit. He was given plenty of chances to play for Gruden. I only took him in the trade cause i knew i could trade him later. This guy will never make it in the NFL. Reagan is absolutely right on this
too rich for your tastes. i get it. let me know when youre truly committed to getting a proven number one receiver, who is young, and has virtually no cap number.
I could probably take Nicks at 25. Sorry but Jennings is far better and cheaper than Nicks. Thats a horrible offer.
Ironic that people said the same thing about Ginn his first (and second year) Maybe we should just give up on him too with that type of thinking. I think as far as a developmental #5 wide receiver goes, he's solid. I don't expect him to start and be more than a special teams contributor. But to say that the kid will amount to nothing in the NFL after one season? Just unreal and quite ignorant.
Ironic that the same guy who used fan support and familiarity to defend Shaun Hill is attacking a former and current Bucs GM who use fan distaste and familiarity to chastise Jackson.... Ted Ginn had 1 punt return TD and about 400 rec yards. Dexter Jackson ran wrong routes and muffed punts or got negative return yards along with 0 rec yards. 400/0 = infinity. At least Ginn had something in his corner. Jackson has nothing. Developmental? Sure. Developmentally challenged? Equally sure. Essentially, Jackson's a lottery ticket. By all means you can try to hope you hit jackpot but the odds are against you and you might as well look elsewhere like I did with Mike Walker.
I have seen mixed results for Jackson, however I have seen more of a favorable result for Hill. The difference between Hill and Jackson however, is that Hill would be competing for a start position while Jackson is not.
Mixed? I guess you're right since it's either non-existent, below average, or excruciatingly bad for even a first year WR. I don't doubt Hill's gotten better results. It's like comparing an intact Honda to a bike with no wheels. Most times you want a project who fell to pull himself up or level out as the season goes on. Jackson kept digging a hole and sticking his head in it, causing many Bucs fans to be reminded of Danny Peebles, another 2nd round pick selected solely for his track speed. Poor outings fundamentally detrimental to a football player's being as well as an increasing distance between potential and realizable performance combined with fan/analyst reactions went into our basis for determining Jackson's fate just as good outings and performances affected your line of thought towards Hill. In your case, Hill showed promise in starting, thus, he gets to compete to start. Jackson showed no promise and depleted self-esteem, thus, we can look elsewhere and develop someone who rationally has a better chance at sticking. No doubt Hill will be competing to start. Jackson's odds of ever reaching that point is slimmer than paper. You might have a better shot getting Usain Bolt to play WR. Might not even curl up in the fetal position too. And going back to the topic of the thread, offering Jackson, a player who's your #5 and won't be starter material for many years if at all, to Paul, who has asked for a #1 speedy WR accomplishes what for him now?
Did you get my PM bro... would you like to discuss over AIM instead? I'm on, and that goes for any of you other GM's interested in acquiring a high draft pick for your wr...
still looking for a wr.... got a few teams that I'm dealing with but talks have cooled to a degree...
yeah it was a threesome too... have i mentioned that i love dealing with one gm... and then the other one...
No its not ignorant or unreal. Me and Reagan just take all available info given to us and make a choice. We think the guy has no future in the NFL at all. To compare to Ted Ginn to Jackson is unreal and quite ignorant. If you look at what those two players did and how much potential they showed in their first year's its not even close. I am not attacking your choice, But giving my opinion as well is Reagan.
you guys are arguing over someone who is on the bottom of the depth chart... I need a wr who is on the top of the depth chart or at least equal to VJ... thank you....
After you and Paul finish your wedding. And btw, that's not how you spell my name so it's obvious you people talking about someone else...
whats mine is mine, and whats yours is mine too. no, wait. whats yours is mine, and what i dont want is yours. there. much better.
But then you won't be getting a wedding gift of a basket of corn... Stafford won't fall that much. Unless you want to trade the #10 overall, Darren Sproles, Antoine Cason, and Vincent Jackson for Antonio Bryant. I thought Harrington had a weak arm coming out of college? Plus, he's a Tedford spread O QB. Only Tedford QB to succeed in the NFL was one who had years to develop under one of the better QB's in history. Stafford has neither.
all im gonna say is that im on suspension from work the next 2 days cause a bangin *** chick that was takin my morning shift today didnt show up. oh well, got friday and saturday night off. off to the bar i go, later fruitcakes (i totally want invites to these marvelous weddings, btw)
Ginn and Jackson are both similar style receivers with question marks after their first year. Ginn should be head and shoulders better than Jackson judging by his selection so the comparison is legitimate. How that is ignorant is beyond me. If you want to give up one a player with plenty of potential after his first year then that's your choice. Especially when receiver is one of the tougher positions to learn. I'm not saying that the dude is going to be a star wide receiver, I think it's unfair to say that a player has no potential after one season. I'm sure some people said that about Brett Favre, look how that turned out...
Similar styles yeah they do, But thats where it end. Ginn showed alot of promise while returning kicks and improvement thru out the year recieving. Jackson actually regressed in one year and never got better. Ginn never turned the ball over like Jackson did on limited touches. I know your not saying he will be a star, But I am giving you my opinion that he will be nothing more than a bench warmer. I will actually be suprised if he is on a NFL roster in two years from now.
