The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that the Chargers are dangling WR/PR Eric Parker in trade talks. Parker is expected to be cut if San Diego can't find a trade partner, however, so the team isn't going to get much for him. He also missed all of 2007 with a toe injury and hasn't been 100% this offseason. When healthy, Parker can be an effective possession/slot type receiver and returns punts. The Browns are among "several teams" that have shown initial interest. Free agent Shane Olivea's four-game suspension is reportedly related to a failed test for "illicit drugs." Beat writer Kevin Acee says "those around the (Chargers) have known for some time that Olivea partied himself out of the league." Olivea is only 26, hasn't had any arrests in the NFL, and is reportedly seeking help, so we doubt he's done. A report in May said that Olivea would sign somewhere in June, but it hasn't happened yet. Acee says that team was the Giants. Rotoworld.com
Parker would be a good Welker type of receiver. He is a hard working receiver, with good hands. Now the question is he healthy? The reason the Chargers made the trade for Chambers was Parker was deemed out for the rest of the season, and Jackson at the time was under performing.
