I seldomlly recommend going to Aquavision, however Jason Taylor has an 8 minute interview and he speaks of his role and what he thinks of Kendall Langford, Q Moses and Cameron Wake, he also speaks about how his role has changed and it is not all about Sacks in his new role: http://www.miamidolphins.com/newsite/aquavision/aquavision.asp Imho, JT will easily surpass his 2008 10 passes defensed total, his sack numbers may be "only" 6 or 7, but his all around game is going to show up.
Yeah, now that sort of puts you in the locker room. JT was good on this interview, normally JT is sort of standoffish but in this one he sort of being real about things.
And he is more likely to score two touchdowns this season than he is to score none imo. He is going to get his hands on a lot of footballs , and that will result in big play defensive touchdowns this season .
if Porter and Taylor can each get 8 or more sacks, that'll be killer. What will really blow my mind is if they can do that and someone like Moses or Wake can add another 4-5.
Tell you what ComPadre, sure liked what coach had to say about the wildcat, never heard him break it down like that.. Simple...power football...and we evolve it from that point. "Just like turning and handing it to the halfback in a pro formation" "If i had to take the wildcat away from my team, it would be like taking away a lolipop from a kid".. he will not give away what qb will be active or inactive before the game, or if all of them will be active...All things he said about the cat were music to my ears. The vision has always been clear.... analyze the talent on the field in the formation, forsee how to evolve the formation to reach its potential, project accurately, and listen closely.
I think that perhaps "we" should be a bit cautious about JT, especially facing a power running team like the Falcons, JT is going to have anchor against the run play after play, something Roth was great at doing but it remains to be seen how JT does. The Falcons will be a real test for us because their strengths match up so well with our unknowns, Power Running vs JT at a new position, All Pro Wr vs Rookie Cb, All Pro Te vs New Coverage Scheme. Now in coverage on the Edge, JT will shine, and as a passrusher, JT should shine even more, certainly a bit more than Roth did last season.
His numbers will look like Joey Porter's 2007 numbers and sadly some morons will come around by the boat load discussing his poor statistical performance - just as they did about Joey Porter in 2007. http://www.nfl.com/players/joeyporter/profile?id=POR135132 It's freaking amazing the comments I read from year to year. Joey Porter was a "terrible free agent signing" as a result of his statistics in 2007. In 2008 Matt Roth plays the same position and puts up similar numbers. Roth was great. Porter sucked. http://www.nfl.com/players/mattroth/careerstats?id=ROT308278
pissed me off as well...Joey porter has been worth every damn penny we have paid him. People who bashed him dont have a clue about football.
Well Porter DID have a very poor first half of that season. He came on much more in the 2nd half. His rub stopping is still pathetic.
padre, I don't think JT was ever standoffish. I think he just got tired of the same old junk over and over the last few years. I think back when everyone was cutting him down, they thought he was being cocky, but I think he was just getting fed up with all the rumors etc. And being real then, not hateful. I have faith that he'll be a force to deal with and well as the others on our D. He's so........siiiiiiiiiiiiigh articulate and gorgeous. Oh, yeah, he's very talented also.
Thats my 5 year old son coming out of me Deb, lol.....2 more days my dear until you see the glistening beads of sweat coming off your man.....lol, i better stop, i dont want you to faint with anticipation when you see him, lol
