Soccer blows. Sorry, it just does. Just my opinion, but.... It blows. Ok ok..i shouldn't have said it, but, JIMMANY! Thre's not enough REAL Football to talk about?!
Drogba is the best striker in the world . . . period. Watch the Ivory Coast in 3 years take that next step.
may the lord and boomer forgive me, but...god it's true, soccer has got to be the universe's evil and cruel ying to its heavenly yang of anna kournikova.
Soccer sucks so bad, it's the only game where the "highlights" consist mainly of things that almost happened and a game that ends in a 0-0 tie is not considered an abomination.
whatever, it goes beyond the game . . . the fans are more passioniate then any other sport that I have seen. I went to Germany for the World Cup in 2006, and it was unbelievable. Its a sport that EVERYBODY grows up and watches. All the WOMEN are very knowledgeable . . . I mean its culture, plain and simple, everybody plays or played it at some point in their life, so the understanding and love is greater. Combine that with the fact that it is a sport that is played "worldwide". Don't worry tho, the US has an AMAZING youth team and guys like Altidore and Adu will lead this country to greatness in the sport.
And I agree, its very hard to get into soccer..... Although I used to be able to endure it when Mia Hamm was playing.
I love you Nabo... but you couldnt be more wrong. No game in the world is as exciting as the beautiful game when it is played well.
Ballack hasn't played yet this season, he has missed the past 7 months with an injury. He did resume practicing last week so he could finally see the field in the next couple weeks.
I'm not trying to sound. Offecive. and im not trying to sound like a wise guy.. but Ultimatly, soccer is worlds #1 sport. Soccer is propably the only itnernational sport that is played EVERYWHERE.
Gotta disagree with you a bit there, q... I love soccer... Playing it. Watching it is rough, though. I gotta give props for being one of the few sports that gets played no matter what the conditions... I've played in rain, snow, sunshine, fog... You name it. That alone places it above baseball and golf, IMO.
Yea I heard he was starting to practice, I didn't know how long before he would be playing. He was being used wrong, I think he will make a huge difference in that team when he comes back.
why it is the greatest and easiest game to organize, all you need is a ball and some bag packs, or stones for the goals. But watching it is awesome too, every WC, every Mexico vs US game, Boca vs River game, Argentina vs Brazil, Argentina vs England, any game not involving italy, liverpool vs AC Milan... I have enjoyed a lot of soccer in my lifetime. If you give it a fighting chance it is the most beautiful game.
Never been a fan and never will be. Soccer is a dog of a sport compared to others. It's worldwide fame is simply a result of how easy it is for anyone anywhere to play it. I mean all you need to do is drop a coconut on the ground and kick it in between two bushes. No equipment needed and that's why it's the most pop. game in the world bottom line. Dosen't mean it's the best sport out there.
The way i see it is that in a nation where Golf and Baseball are consider fun spectator sports, no one has the right to diss soccer.
football is the top sport in this nation. We have every right to "diss" soccer, as a country we do "diss" soccer and I firmly believe that will never change. You just won't get the majority to follow a sport where most of the game consists of people jogging back and forth up and down a field waving for a pass and taking dives any time someone comes within 5 feet of them. Football has spoiled this nation to a point where soccer can never by top dog.
Why the thing is no one expects it to be top dog. And it will as new generations of latinos grow in numbers, in case you did not know the last Mexico-US game gathered better ratings than the NBA finals, and the NHL finals. The average MLS game pulls in more spectators than the average NBA game... The game is growing. Slowly... it might not reach mainstream. But it is growing. I am not debating whether soccer can or will become top dog... My point is that it is not a boring game. I much rather Than I would watch a dude holding a stick grab his balls while he stares at a man who just shakes his head before throwing his ball to no reaction by the dude with the stick, who is just chewing on his gum, and is considered a good player when he hits the ball 3 out of 10 times. Or a game with a bunch of 60 year old fat men, with sticks trying to get the ball into wholes that are yards away. Its a matter of tastes of course. But the game is damn exciting, the game is full of complexity and skill and athleticism.
Totally gotta agree with that... Hell, poker is considered a spectator sport in this country now. Soccer, IMO, is much better than golf, baseball, poker, and NASCAR to watch... I still have a hard time watching when I don't have someone I want to win, though...
LMOA! Funny stuff. I can't argue with you there! Never been a fan of watching golf and I rarely watch baseball unless it's the team I follow. IMO baseball is a lot like soccer. You have to have played the sport and understand the nuances to appreciate watching it. I also get that alot of people love soccer and that's fine. To me it just dosen't do it and I think the avg. American feels the same way.
