It deserves mentioning again with the way he's been playing, Cold hard football facts has a good article arguing Chad's case for MVP. I think he deserves it and I also think Favre should turn down his Pro Bowl bid and give it to Chad, but that's just me. http://www.coldhardfootballfacts.com/Articles/11_2606_Meet_your_2008_NFL_MVP.html Put most simply, Pennington was the single biggest on-the-field reason for that turnaround. The Dolphins were in shambles at quarterback last year and it showed in the win column. Pennington instantly solidified the most important position in sports and, again, it showed in the win colum.
That's a pretty good read, and some compelling evidence for why Chad should be garnering consideration. It'll go to Manning, at the end of the day, for his dramatic comeback wins, but in my mind that's not fair to Pennington. The man deserves some recognition for his performance this year. It's sad no one has noticed.
I think Chad deserves to be in the mix and talked about... i mean if we never get chad we are stuck with John McGowan as our QB...where are we? not in the playoffs i can guarantee that... Chad is not the only reason we are 11-5... but he is a huge part of it... I mean we lost our 1st games in which we looked like a good football team... the next week we get destroyed... At 0-2 we are looking at another LONG losing season...Last year's Dolphins would of gave up hope for the season at this point, things were looking bad. Our secondary was horrible and our special teams were not any better...You tell me that we only lose 3 more games for the rest of the season i would have said your crazy... Week 3 comes along and bam... The wildcat goes into effect and we restore hope. It was a great way to go into the bye week after a bad start. We are now 1-2 and we win a great game against a good Charger team. We are looking good at 2-2 and playoff talks emerge as a possibility... Then the next week all playoffs hopes took a back seat. We lose a heart breaker to Houston on a QB draw. We are 2-3 and we start to lose control. The next week Baltimore beats us and we are sitting at 2-4. The Patriots are 4-2 at this point and the Bills are sitting pretty at 5-1... Pennington took control of this team and winning a must win game at Buffalo. We lose that game, we are 2-5 while the and Bills are 6-1, we would be in desperate mode as 1 more loss would most likely keep us out of the playoffs with how other AFC teams were playing. Instead we are 3-4 and on the right track. We win our next 3 in close fashion. We were a Ginn 4th down conversion away of losing an important game. At 6-4 we are looking pretty good. The next week Chad did everything he could to beat the Patriots but came up short despite the score. That loss would be our last. Chad won games that last year we lose. Without Chad we don't beat the Bills, we lose the close game to Oakland. We lose to Kansas City and we lose to the Jets. Now i have not paid close attention to every other player in the league but Chad has a great case for MVP. You take Pennington off the Miami Dolphins, we are talking about the NFL Draft instead of the NFL playoffs...
Good read and a valid and compelling argument. Heck Pennington has got my vote!!! Seriously, without "repeating the article" the fact that we are where we are due to, not only his play and stats, but the leadership and example he provided to the rest of the team. Coach Sparano said he was there Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, working and preparing. Chad would say it doesn't matter to him probably and he would be telling the truth. It would be nice if for once a guy like him would get the recognition he deserves.
I agree withChad, disagree with Manning... Who has Manning have to throw the ball to??? Any good WR's or TE's???How long has he been in this Offensive scheme? With the same coaches? With the same team? Come on, this seems like night and day. I mean I am not saying that Peyton haas been bad before, but its the same system he has been playing for the last 10 years... Now Chad, Who does he throw to??? What big names??? Has he been around long in the same system? With the same coaches? with the same team??? Am I the only one that sees my point?
I see your point exactly and that was also in the article about how long Chad has had in this system. Good add on as to who he was throwing to versus Peyton. I honestly think it will be wrong if Chad does not get MVP and if Manning got it....... I'll say it........He got it on name and past performance only! (Kinda like Favre with the Pennington Pro Bowl snub)
