McCain said the full-time move to defensive end came after Campbell took over as interim head coach after the game against the New York Jets in London.
McCain said he wasn’t surprised because he had worked almost exclusively at defensive end since mid-September.
The position switch is one McCain likes.
“I’m not a linebacker ... There’s not too much thinking (at defensive end) and you can just go play freely and play loose, line up somewhere depending on the call and you just go tee off,” McCain said. “That’s what we all wanted. That’s what the team defensively has been asking for. Since we got Campbell, that’s what we’ve been getting. It’s been working and that’s what we want.”
