We dodge a bullet with that contract. https://www.raidersbeat.com/hosts-s...ns has been one, year has not healed correctly.
Not wishing anything bad in regards to Wilkins but it feels like an alternative reality when we can look back and say Grier made a good decision.
I agree with you about having dodged a bullet and that Grier made a good decision. I would add that I wish Wilkins the best for his performance for us while he was here. I hope his second operation is a success and that he finds himself in good enough health to continue in the NFL as a player - or even a coach.
As much as people believe injuries are predetermined here, there's no guarantee he would have gotten the same injury here. He was way overpaid to begin with.
Foot stress fractures are almost predetermined. It's not like and ACL or a sprain. These are structural issues that would have surfaced eventually IMO. He may not ever be the player he was. Let's hope not, I really liked him while he was here.
I always felt that Wilkins was overrated and didn't understand the extreme love from some Dolphins fans. Good not great, and too much of a fake hyper act. I didn't dislike him, but he was nowhere near worth what he was paid, and I'm glad we avoided all of that.
While I think that Clemson D line was better as a unit than as individual players, I thought Wilkins did a nice job for us while he was here. With that said, the deal that the Raiders gave him was far too much money. Hopefully he can return to playing at the same level, even if he’s forced to miss the upcoming season.
