I was very staunch in my victimization of Tyson Clabo at the beginning of the year, and was very adamant that he was the biggest disappointment of the 2013 FA class. He still had a god-awful beginning of the year, costing us a couple games (in my opinion) but I want to toast his play over the last couple games. The whole offensive line has been doing better this second half, and Clabo is a big reason for it. So here's hoping he can finish strong and not revert back to early autumn.

- Tyson Clabo has rebounded from a rough start to the season. Through the first six games, he graded at -12.4 overall. In the last six, he’s compiled a +5.5 grade, including his positive effort against the Steelers.

Yeah, I posted that link and stats in another thread. Since his benching and the extra week off as a result, he has been much improved. Some of that is the changes to the blocking scheme as well as having a more athletic Brenner next to him at times as opposed to just Jerry. Clay is chipping at times as well.
Doesn't hurt that we're thru the toughest stretch of our schedule either. His biggest test will be when we face Buffalo again. Mario Williams embarrassed both him and Martin earlier this year. Let's hope he fares better this time. -
It kind of begs the question of why it was the case. Clabo post-benching has played like we could reasonably expect him to.

I can't help but think that Martin and Cogs being gone has something to do with the offensive line coming together. Could be the "after it, therefore because of it" logical fallacy, but it's a little too coincidental...

Martignito shenanigans affected the whole line, almost ruined us.

Clabo > Columbo.

He's making it hard to decide priority.
I feel like remaking the entire line in one offseason is unlikely to bear immediate fruit. Its going to be interesting to see what we do.
You have a LT who may or may not be back, and either way needs a long term replacement due to age.
You have a street free agent playing like he belongs at LG. Is he flashing potential or just playing above his head so far? Is he a legitimate starter going forward?
You have Pouncey who some still feel is a better fit at RG but is our one long term player it seems.
You have Garner at RG. He's always shown flashes of being a passable player on the line. However noone would argue that we shouldnt explore upgrading.
Then as mentioned, Clabo at RT who is having an up and down year and coming on. -

Miami will still likely be pulling a Chicago and starting 4 new OL next season.
Problem is Turner may still be coaching them and Ireland might still be picking them. -
most likely reason as to why the turnaround is exactly what Philbin said a couple of weeks ago. Clabo is working harder than before to get better after he was reinserted into the starting lineup. Coaches can threaten to bench you all they want, but until it actually happens, a player isn't going to react the way you'd like. It lit a fire under his ***. Good for him, great for us. We'll see if he can keep it up on this run though.
