Cleveland (AP) -- In a continuation of one of the most exciting off seasons in Cleveland history, the Browns have added Tim Tebow, Elvis Dumervil, and John Henderson to a team that appears, for all intents and purposes, to be getting better in a hurry.

Dumervil and Henderson are expected to replace the recently departed Jabaal Sheard and Athaya Rubin along the defensive line. Dumervil represents an upgrade in terms of experience and consistency at the End spot, with 52.5 sacks in a 5 year career including 9.5 last year. Henderson is expected to replace Rubin as the "Over" tackle in Cleveland's 4-3, which is coincidentally the same position that sent him to two Pro Bowls as a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

It's clear that the Browns are hoping to have finally solved their long standing Quarterback problem, although the jury is still very much out on Tim Tebow. Tebow may have been the most significant story of the NFL in 2011, displaying a flair for the dramatic in game after game. It's a story we all know. Denver scored an amazing 6 come from behind victories, including 4 victories in overtime. Along the way Tebow displayed a penchant for making big plays with both his legs and his feet when the game was on the line. At the same time Tebow infuriated fans and coaches alike with his up-and-down performances.

When looking at Tebow one has to try and look at a variety of factors, though boiling things down to the simplest equation, there's only one stat that matters: Tebow's QBR Rating the the first half? 58.9. In the second half? 80.4. This is where you see the competitor that is Timothy Richard Tebow. When the chips are down, he's at his best.

That's not to say that Cleveland should view Tebow as anything more than a work-in-progress. There's the 3/4 to almost sidearm delivery, with the long windup. The haphazard way he scrambles to extend plays. Questionable footwork. All of these contribute to his Completion Percentage, which can only be describe as awful, at 46.5%.

The good news, at least for Cleveland Browns fans, is that both Head Coach Rob Chudzinski and Offensive Coordinator Mike McCoy have experience with uniquely unconventional players. Chudzinski worked wonders with rookie Cam Newton last season, helping him win Rookie of the Year honors in the process. McCoy was also Tebow’s Offensive Coordinator as a member of the Broncos, which should help ease the QB’s learning curve rather than having him start completely over in a new system. The prevailing though is that if Tebow can’t succeed with both Chudzinski and McCoy mentoring him, then he might never succeed.

It’s a bold gamble, and represents something of a leap of faith for the Cleveland Browns front office. Still, one has to applaud them for having the guts to go after a guy who could be the difference maker for the team at QB. In an off season that’s been full of surprises, the Browns have found a way to surprise us yet again.
