Yup..He was trying to catch up to the tempo all year last year, that should improve, his lighter weight will work well with that.

Those are the little things you do as a 'boss' that make the difference between guys working with you and guys working for you....Good for him...and good for the Phins...

After every victory last year, he would dance a jig for the players. It wasn't ever filmed with the speech in the locker room, because that was for the players only.

Most players bought in and respected Philbin pretty quickly last year.

As long as the players work hard first, that's the key.

 

Easy there. Harbaugh brought his team to the NFC Championship and the Super Bowl in his first two seasons as a Head Coach. I like Philbin as much as the next guy, but yeah.

 

Philbin is someone you can root for, Harbaugh is not, time will tell obviously

 

With that talented roster he built. Oh wait..

 

i love me some Jim Harbaugh..His great success was easily predictable..

Philbins skills as a coach was not on display like those of Harbaugh, I'm hoping he's the man..Fin-d last year made me see a few things that I was missing..I really like his demeanor on the sideline, seems like a tough sob when the bullets start firing.

 

He nailed his choice at QB..great player.

 

I think there's some more things to consider or think about.

- Slick is right, and Harbaugh didn't have to build much of the roster, Philbin certainly has had to, considering the previous Sparano/Parcells Patented: 3 Points And A Cloud of Dust Offense requires virtually opposite type players.
- IMO, Harbaugh's emotions are going to get the better of him at some point. Harbaugh is a bit of kooky guy. His team has bought in, but I don't think he could hold them through a non winning season. Basically, I think, his personality only works while the team wins. At least, that's what always seems to happen with flamboyant (not gay) coaches. Just compare guys like Gruden, Glanville, Rex Ryan to more stoic guys like Dungy, Coughlin, Cowher. Based on personality (not coaching success) which group does Harbaugh fit better with and which does Philbin fit better with?

 

He really doesn't have to be a lot quicker to make a significant difference. I'm sure there are many plays per game that a 2-3 tenths of a second would make the difference between success and failure. I'm hoping he is just that little bit quicker.

 

Certainly agree with you...I've had this thought on Harbaugh as well in SF....But if they have enough success before the winning seasons weaken the roster, he may attain "trust in coach" status from the players. Certainly, he had a nice launching point when he got there.

Disagree on Harbaugh..The guy cares for his players and is a great leader, would of given up drafts picks for him..I don't see the weaknesses you speak of..
