Irsay wrote on Twitter that it will take Manning about eight weeks to completely recover from the procedure.
The comment appeared shortly after The Indianapolis Star first reported that Manning said he had "minimally invasive" surgery on his neck at Chicago's Northwestern Memorial Hospital. The procedure was performed by Dr. Richard Fessler, the same surgeon who did Manning's first neck surgery 15 months ago.
Manning, the NFL's only four-time MVP, said he only recently started feeling discomfort in his neck and that the two operations were unrelated. He stayed overnight in the hospital and returned home to Indianapolis on Tuesday.
Manning told The Star that he anticipates "a quick recovery," and, according to a statement released by the quarterback, he will begin the rehabilitation process, "ensuring his readiness with regard to the resumption of any and all activities of the National Football League as scheduled."
Manning said he was working out within a week and lifting weights within two weeks following last year's procedure.
"There is plenty of time for recovery," he said. "We'll formulate a plan moving forward."
