Football movement, position specific movement..the combine..you can tell a lot from these OTA's just like you can at the combine, it's why the combine is becoming bigger and bigger, imo, good talent evaluators can tell a lot from watching players run around, especially in schematic situations..yes, the pads have to come on to see certain things to be able to project accurately, but movement is very important.

True, however there will always be Chris Hogans who look amazing without pads and then fade away when pads come on.

Without question, but there's a lot of other things you can detect..especially in your spacing concepts..most of our new vets we know can play the physical part, I would say there are two important new guys that I would need to see the pads come on before I say anything about them and that's Will Davis, and Jelani Jenkins..

I agree. There are a lot of positive things to gleam from OTAs. I enjoy reading reports.

Check out Tim Green's book "The Dark Side of the Game"... Chapter 15 talks about "Rookies in Shorts".

It's a pretty good read from a Veteran Pro's perspective on the NFL, playing the game, and dealing with fame. Link: http://www.amazon.com/dp/0446605204
