The Green Bay Packers had their top two corners injured and out of the game.
A winning head coach takes a chance on third and nine even with both corners in the game. Giving Aaron Rodgers anything north of 1:15 is playing roulette. He can drive the Packers down the field from his own 10 with a buck 15. Giving him the two minute warning and the field shows a level of cowardice that should get this entire coaching staff fired.
Ridiculous coaching. If you want to rush twice, you do it on first and second down, run the clock down and take your chance on third down. Instead, we put ourselves in a third and long with the incompletion and still decide to give Aaron Freaking Rodgers the ball back with 2+ minutes on the clock. Asinine at best, massive clusterf*** at worst.

I couldn't have said it better Bum. I've had it with Philbin and with Tannehill. They are what they are.....this is 40 something games into the Tannehill era, and he is what he is. He is not taking this team ANYWHERE.
This season is just about to the "where are we in the draft" time.Bumrush likes this. -
I don't diasgree.
But maye we then should give credit Philbin for going for it on 4th and 1 and blame the players for failing again. The offense was flat again in the first half, no fire. I know many want to blame Philbin for it, but then we have to give him credit for having the the special teams and D ready to play. This offense lacks fire to play a complete game. That's the main problem IMO. -
I don't have a problem with running the ball in that situation. What is problematic is that it is very predictable what Miami will do in such situations.

The problems with the Dolphins are top down. Tannehill demonstrated ability, whatever he is or isn't, the FACT remains that it's impossible to tell under the leadership the Phins have had. They may well have ruined him, who knows? What I do know is that from sports to jobs I've seen 'crap', 'poor', 'stupid' individuals end up looking like completely different individuals after a change of leadership. If you have problems then you have to start with wherever those problems appear from the top down. I've a feeling Ross is part of the problem but it's not likely he'll see it and sell the team. Instead, the coaching has to dealt with. Then let the rest settle after that. This game could have been a win. Coaching cost the Phins this win.
Tannehill bad half? Yes. But made up for it by taking the lead. The coaching though?PhinFan1968 likes this. -
How would that have made a difference when you have the best QB in the game? -

And if you think Tannehill needs competition to get motivated, is it worth it to even have him? I mean honestly.
Brian Hoyer may be a FA and he's shown some ability to manage a game well. -
Other than the Raiders game, I just don't see any of these defense backs making plays on the ball.
None of the young defensive backs appear to be able to step up and get much playing time, even though the secondary is very average. This isn't a good sign for this defense when you look ahead to the future. Especially when Finnegan and Grimes can only be expected to continue to decline as they age over the next few years. -
I just rewatched the sequence of events on that possession.
The coordinator had 0 awareness of what the packers were doing even though a high school coach could predicted it, bottom line, it was obvious they were selling out on the blitz, and even though it was obvious Lazor folded up shop and ran the ball strait up the middle twice..they gave up trying to convert, they didn't run plays that would of been effective against those blitzes.
Also, I'm not sure why, but Ryan saw it happening and didn't change anything to take a shot. -

Supposedly, Philbin ordered Lazor to run that third down play. I wonder if anyone ever told Philbin that up the middle is not the only running play there is when the other team is coming with a full house blitz.
