Congratulations! He has a bright future as a neurosurgeon. I don't expect him to go to the NFL now but I could be wrong.

This is a great story, and a nice change of pace. Usually when you see the headline on ESPN begin with "Florida State safety...", the words "suspended", "academically ineligible", "arrested" or "charged" follow shortly thereafter.

 

yep, fsu is the only one. funny how no one posted a thread on cameron newton getting arrested. if thats an fsu or miami guy, smug mr. gator fan posts a thread on it. (not you unwin)

 

One of my coworkers is a big Gators fan and declared that she is not worried about FSU in the least and this game isn't even important. Of course I told her that if she was a real fan of FSU or UF she would never say that about this game.

Anyway, it would be hard to turn down an academic opportunity like that. I wouldn't turn it down if I were him.

 

I believe there's a few posts in the Gators thread discussing Newton's arrest. The reason Newton's arrest wasn't a thread because they have their own Gators thread, unlike FSU.

 

If he declines the Rhodes scholarship then he probably didn't deserve it anyways because it'd be stupid to forfeit that opportunity. My guess is, he goes for the 2-3 years in England and comes back to play for a bit.

So Mr. gator fan posts something negative about a member of your favorite team. Does that make your team better or worse?

Cameron Newton got arrested for a laptop. Okay. That is bad news for our 3rd string QB who was demoted from 2nd stringer. Oh well. Doesn't affect the team. Its not like Percy Harvin was arrested. That's like if Drew Weatherford were arrested (except he was a starter at one pont)...what was the name of your other qb last year? I forgot him already but wasn't he arrested? McPherson or something like that? Or was it an overdose? Doesn't matter anyway. I probably don't remember because it was not significant.

There is no need to get riled up about minor news that people will forget about anyway.
