When asked about Ochocinco, Coyle did say that he visited with coaches and that he has always had a positive feel about the former Bengals receiver, who was traded to the Patriots last year and then released. Coyle and Ochocinco both came to the Bengals in 2001.
Coyle also said in the first couple practices that Ochocinco has participated, he is still the Chad he remembers.
“The biggest thing I wondered about was why didn’t things work out in New England because I thought they would but he has been explosive off the ball during the practices here,” Coyle said. “He’s an extremely hard worker, I’ve never worried about that. I also know what some of the negatives and some of those issues have been. The biggest thing now is that he has to come in and make the team. If he can do that then it will be a win-win for both sides.”
