Reported on the NFL Network coverage of the combine. Michael Crabtree has a stress fracture in his foot. It will require surgury. Adam Schefter confirmed that it is true. Crabtree will miss his pro day and will likely not run before the draft. Let the speculation begin.
HHHIIIIIIOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Fall to 17, PLEASE! I hope that there are 16 teams stupid enough to pass him.
Crabtree Stress Fracture NFLN Combine reporters have announced that Michael Crabtree has a stress fracture in his foot and won't be able to run, or much of anything else for 10 weeks. That will certainly put some cooling on his draft prospects. The question will be which team will take a risk on him first...
Combine News: Crabtree Injured; Smith Vanished; Mayock a Tool Guys, we really need a Combine thread. So I'll start with the breaking news from today: - Andre Smith did not only not work out (because he "wasn't ready"), he also left the Combine without permission. Buzz is that teams are taking him off their boards. - Crabtree is not only two inches shorter than advertised (I knew it!!!!!!!!!!!!), he also has a stress fracture in his foot and needs surgery. Talk is he's out for 10 weeks and will probably not be able to work out at his pro day. - And in case you wonder how Mayock's rankings come about: NFL Network left the mics on during a break and some guy asked Mayock, "what do we do with Andre Smith now?". Mayock: "I'll leave him at #5 just because he's a talking point right now but teams probably take him off their boards."
Watching it now, Rich Eisen saying that Andre Smith just disappeared. They couldn't find him and then when they did, he said he wasn't in shape. And Mayock just dropped him his overall board, lol.
They probably will. I think the talent is too hard to pass up but if they didn't, I would imagine some teams would worry about his long speed but would still be hard pressed to pass up a talent like him.
Guy's probably costing himself 10 to 20 million bucks. Heck, I'd take him off my board as well. A guy dumb enough to waste so much money, I don't want on my team.
I've heard some people say Andre Smith could make a great transition to RG. Not sure if it's true since I haven't seen him play much. If it is true then let teams take him off their board and let's pick him up with our second 2nd rounder
4.42 it was. Pettigrew runs a 4.85. I think the concerns that he isn't a guy to stretch the field remain, lol.
And he only put up 22 on the bench, 33" vertical, and a 9'10" broad which isn't bad. I think he will be there at #25 after that 40 yard dash.
I think Andre Smith not only cost himself a Top 10 spot but a Top 32 spot. I like Michael Oher and Jason Smith if my team is searching for a LT (which thankfully we arn't).
Anyone remember Alan Branch from like 2 years ago. Kinda reminds me of Smith in that he was a top 10 guy but shot himself down the boards. Think he was taken first in the second round eventually.
I wouldn't be shocked to see Crabtree drop a few spots and get snapped up by the Oakland Raiders with the #7 pick. That's where I think he will end up.
Al Davis would have the pick in within the first couple of seconds...if he drops. Teams know what to expect from an injury like his. So I don't see him slipping to far down the line. Everyone knows he is special skills ready for the NFL. But you never know what going to happen in the draft, until it happens 95% of the time.
That is a fallacy. Over the past 20 years, the Jets have generally drafted better than the Dolphins have. I say this speaking as a diehard Phin fan.
Since Crabtree has hurt foot the Raverns(OC - Cam Moron) will trade up and draft him. Does his family come with him?
Hard to make fun of a team for drafting the best WR in the draft.... Any team that gets him past the TOP 5...is getting a great value for their pick.
todays news is that Crabtree will forgo surgury until after his pro day. Meaning he will miss roookie mini camps, but will get to show his 40-time. Smith has appoligizes for his epic failure yesterday. He sites poor judgement for his decision, and appoligzes for his admitted mistake. He says that he only did it in effort to get to the next level. He was flying to Atlanta to attend a workout. he just didnt tell anyone that he moved the flight ahead from 4pm to 6am. i just finished listening to a Bill Belichick press conference. he seems to be far more open to the media than ive ever seen before. his comments focused mainly around his gratefulness to have worked with the great staff members he has over his career. he said a lot of good things about a lot of great coaches and personel. im sensing a last hurra. half the pats team are becoming free agents next year. bill is acting all sentimental in efforts to restore a level of humanity to his legacy. brady is talking about coming back to help the team reach their goal. i think they are planinng on shooting for 19-0 again. and i think bill calls it quits after this season. a lot of the great coaches of his era have hung up theirs wistles already. i could see im exiting soon.
listening to Rey Maualuga's press conference right now. He really sounds like he's got his head on his shoulders. A true pro. I would not be too upset if Miami moved up to get him. In fact, I would be thrilled.
sweet, aaron curry time. curry comes off as a natural public speaker. he's really looking forward to playing along with the greats in this game. his desire to be the best is very strong. very motivated. whoever gets him is getting a sure thing.
IMO, Curry is the #1 overall player in this draft. The safest pick period. If I am the Lions he is the first player taken.
Hes had a good combine. If I were the Colts id be highly interested in him. You dont need him to be a #1 cause you have Wayne, or even a 2 because of Gonzalez, and hes got a great QB throwing to him to help him out. His biggest concern was lack of experience and rawness-Indy is one of the few teams that could absorb him and make him a playmaker right off the bat imo. OFC they have some serious needs on the OL/DL, but if Perria Jerry is gone and they dont want to go with someone like Mack, DHB has to be a good choice.
