I've only been with my current company, Vertex, for 3 years now, so I had nothing to do with the R&D behind Telapravir (Vertex's Hep C drug) But in the field of pharmaceuticals, where treatments that actually cure diseases are incredibly rare (most companies are trying to market drugs that only treat symptoms) this is a remarkable accomplishment.
The FDA unanimously approved Telapravir today

to be fair, Merck also has a hepatitis C drug hitting the market (Bocepravir), but it's less effective and has significantly worse side effects relative to Telapravir.
