Why is he still starting? Like, would Billy Turner be a worse option at this point?

I was just thinking about this. It really is amazing that after 3 years of watching this guy in practice, that they either think he is the best option or haven't found a better one.
He's making a strong run for the worst OL of the post Parcells era and that's saying something.dolphin25 likes this. -
FWIW, PFF has Thomas rated 71 out of 75 OG. We don' need to see a statistical breakdown to tell us what our eyes have been seeing since he joined the Dolphins.
The funny thing, is out of the 4 Guards who have worse ratings than him, of course 1 of those 4 is our other starter.number21, Springveldt, resnor and 2 others like this. -
But hey, Dallas Thomas didn't give up a sack at Guard yesterday, he must not have been too bad!
Thomas isn't the problem, he is the manifestation. Joe Philbin doesn't start his offensive linemen on the basis of their ability on the field, he's got some other set of qualifications, some sort of proprietary blend of pluckiness, punctuality, cleanliness, etc. that determines if someone gets on the field or not. He doesn't want the best five on the field, he wants the five he likes the best within his idea of practicality.number21, MikeHoncho, Tin Indian and 1 other person like this. -

It turns out Thomas was actually that bad, and I fear the same with Turner. The OL has been putrid since he was drafted and he still hasn't cracked the starting lineup, I wouldn't bet a single penny on him being any better.number21 likes this.
