What a Game 1 loss won't do.
Dan Henning with the Panthers:
With Washington and Detroit:
Interestingly the Panthers went deep in 2005 more than even during their Super Bowl year, the impressive thing about Henning is he has had success were ever he has landed as a Offensive Coordinator, and perhaps more impressively his success was not predicated on ripping off his fmr associates systems, Henning is far more successful working with talent already on the roster than requiring "his" type of players.
In Carolina they had more of a deep strike 20+ yds per play offense in Miami last season he used more of intermediate style of offense.
But anyway it is sliced, Henning has been successful in the long term where ever he was hired, if he can develop Jake Delhomme as well as lead the Lions to a Division Title, I don't feel we have much reason to be too concerned about the offense.

It doesn't matter.
He called a ****ty game, he sucks. Fire this guy. -
The loss was frustraiting considering everyones hopes coming into the season. I think a lot of the fans under estimated the Falcons and didn't consider them one of the tougher games of the season. Its not the end of the world or the end of the season but its an eye opener. Last years 11-5 record gave us a wrong perception that our team was stronger than it actually is. This team was pretty much built from scratch because of past mistakes and will continue to improve over time, but it will take time. We're in the second year of Parcells rebuild and he started with very little foundation.
Now we will see how far we have come by how well we come back from tough losses. -
I'd like to see David Lee take the reigns next year. I think it fits....I think Lee would find ways to get the ball in ronnies hands ala mcfadden and felix.

While Henning seemed to call the worst game I've seen last week, he is one of the premiere OC's in this league and I have little doubt he will adapt this offense to counteract whatever deficiencies we have in talent or experience. Which is really what he did last year and a huge reason we did as well as we did.
What bothered me most last week was Mike Mularky seemed to call a decent game as the Falcons OC, where was this ability when he was our DC? When he was here I "lovingly" always referred to him as "Boolarky" because I felt he was the worst OC I had ever seen call a game.
Maybe this all boiled down to talent, and we are still overcoming the lack of it Parcells & Co. inherited from 7+ years of horrific drafting and even worse trades & FA pickups. You can't rebuild a near total lack of talent in only 2 years without some bumps in the road. We hit one last week, we will be back. And Dan Henning is the right man to figure out how to score points with the talent he has on the field.dirtywhiteboy and Bpk like this. -
And he is only 66, the same age as Marty Schottenheimer. -

this is a very revealing statement & significant fact.
Dan Hennig is top drawer, one of the best of all times -
I said his play calling was real bad last year and most here disagreed with me. I still think its bad but we'll see what happens, things could turn around.
