All he really needed was the Team Defense of a champion, and the Running Game of a champion. They he would have had a ring (or two, or three) of a Champion.

Seen it many times. Great show, though it always kind of depresses me because he never got his much deserved ring.

I wish he got surgery on his legs and played a few more years for us.

Ouch! I remember watching from home that day in Cleveland. Stepping up in the pocket, unreal.

Dan Marino was everything you would need in a quarterback to be a champion. He never got that "Ring" but it wasn't due to any of his own doing or lack of. He didn't have the legs to be a threat as a running quarterback but he more than made up for it with his arm, his skills, abilities and his intelligence. He scared opposing teams to death. His strong arm, quick release and great accuracy made him a deadly weapon and in Bill Walsh's words it made him a system and not a system quarterback.
Its just sad that him being known as a great quarterback who didn't win a ring can't be put to rest once and for all. -
Here's the way I always look at it
People rank Joe Montana the #1 QB of all time BECAUSE he has 4 rings. If Dan Marino had ONE ring he would be the undoubted best QB of all time.steveincolorado likes this. -
