Interesting, Reggie Bush seems to have a chip on his shoulder as the culture in NOLA is dedicated to winning, so Reggie turning it up a notch can only point to additional motivation.

He has an axe to grind. Out to prove the naysayers wrong. I like what I'm hearing.

He wants to prove that he can run the ball a little too. If we can average 100+ total yards a game from him our offense will be in good shape.

He'll have to carry the short yardage game Kevin Faulk style.

I'm gonna guess that blocking is the only thing that prevents him from being a full-time back. It's why you're getting tweets of him being frustrated in practice after whiffing on blocks.

Willie McGinest pimped him yesterday on NFL network when asked about who he was looking at impacting this season ...for an expat that is perhaps unexpected...

Don't think he'll have a Ricky Williams-like 2002 season, after Ricky disappointed people in New Orleans and came to Miami and was the leagues best rusher. But I hope he can get tons of touchdowns and stay healthy and be the most improved player of the year. He should get tons of passes thrown his way.
I would've take him in fantasy but some ****ing Jets fan took him 2 spots before me. I hope he dominates against the Jets defense. -

I am virtually positive Miam has a clear vision on how they will and want to use Reggie. That want him with the ball in space and ideally with some movement that isn't halted when he gets the ball.
I really don't think anyone thinks he will be getting 20 carries a game or run the majority of the time between the tackles , although I do think he will get some carries in that regard.
He is working very hard , he appears to be healthy , so now it is up to the coaching staff to utilize him to his and their best advantage.MrClean, Alex13, ToddsPhins and 1 other person like this. -

Not at Wr per se P13, but upping his Receiving Game to make him even more dangerous an option.
To me, he and DT in the backfield in a two back set, when Reggie goes into motion to the outside of the formation Defensive Coordinators have cows as that matchup tips in favor to us. -

He is working very hard , we'll see how the injury situation is , I mentioned months ago before this came close to being really bantered about that I would not be surprised to see Bush end up in Miami ( outlined for numerous reasons )... I said they would have to determine if the decline in production was a trend that would continue or level off or if he can and would revert to the electric , dynamic performer he was initially.
They made their choice , and I doubt it is to use him in 40 % of the snaps , just my opinion though. -
Why not Lex Hilliard with Bush. That way not only do you gain an experienced pass protector but also a FB if you decide to run the ball. He's also a good receiver. Chances are the defense will be facing your 3 WR( with Marshall in the slot) with a dime formation that can be overpowered in the run game.
-
One of the biggest problems in facing Bush in a spread offense is that not only are you in a dime formation against Miami but you're probably in a three safety formation to cover Bush out of the backfield. That's seven defensive backs. If you're QB can run that also will require a spy (Matt Moore would also really benefit from such an offense). That's three defensive linemen left to rush against five. That's extremely tough to get pressure against and you still have 1-1s with Hartline and Bess.
One of the best ways to minimize pressure this year will be to reduce the number of rushers to and spread the field. We've got the guys on the offensive line (Murtha) and in the receiving game (Bush, Gates) to cause havoc.ToddsPhins likes this. -
Its why he needs to be in the best possible condition, hes gonna be running and running, and I don't mean just traditionally..
Folks who are to deep in their analysis that we are going to fail, I guess just don't wanna talk about it.ToddsPhins likes this. -

Yeah you're right DJ.
I'd love to see a handful of stretch plays running behind Cogs and Jake, with bootleg/play action and throwback screens off of them. Drop back passes, with draws and screens mixed in. Flex Reggie outside and put Marshall in the slot, that's a double matchup problem for the D. We can put BM, Hartline & Gates out there to run take offs and have Bush and Thomas/Clay running checkdowns/screens underneath. We can legitimately put 3 guys (Bess-Bush-Marshall) on the field who can command a double team, get open quickly, make a play after the catch etc. The possibilities are endless.
My question is, what do you do if you're Daboll. Do you go vanilla in the preseason and risk starting the year w/ a lack of game speed experience with your good ish, or do you prioritize getting your timing and execution down even if it means giving away the element of surprise?ToddsPhins likes this. -

A lot of Reggie's touches will depend on his ability to pick up blitzes & block.
They're expecting Reggie Bush to be the feature back, not every down back. They want Reggie to be an effective runner and threat to run the ball out of 1st & 2nd down, so that the defense doesn't automatically predict pass or Reggie getting the ball when he comes in.
There is going to be nothing new to the RB situation in Miami. Daniel Thomas & Reggie Bush will split carries. I imagine Reggie Bush to be the starter, but Ronnie Brown was too...and Ricky Williams was always finishing the games.
I think they're going to be a nice tandem, so long as Reggie can block. That's my biggest doubt. I think he will run the ball OK, I really do. But, that blocking...it's been terrible in seasons past--recognition and execution. -
Also, I can assure everyone of this...no matter what we do in preseason/season, etc., at some point this season Reggie will have a lull because defenses will figure it out. It happens every season to every player. A few games are down because defenses will react, especially after tape is sent out of a defense stopping it. The best thing Reggie Bush can do for his game is what he's doing now...working on blocking and being better prepared to run the ball within the tackles. If he can't do that, it won't matter how creative the Dolphins are, it'll be a fluctuating season of high's and low's (high's where we do something new, low's where the defense see those things and react to it).

A team like New England, their LBs would have no chance unles sit was a loooong yardage situation. They'd have to use a safety or CB on Bush, which creates better matchups for our other WRs. I like our chances there.Boik14 likes this. -

There are very few teams out there that can stop a 4 WR look with Clay/Bush in the backfield, very few. That's just too fast, it forces the defense to go very small.
I think people are going to be surprised when they see how effective the team can be with non-threats like Polite and Haynos off the field. Perhaps even Fasano is reaching his time and a more effective look would be Clay against a S.ToddsPhins likes this. -

Which is why I have a feeling Moore will be the starter. His ability to run and more accurate short-passing makes him a very dangerous threat for an offense like ours. Think Matt Cassel more than Drew Bledsoe.
