Darryl Sharpton impresses Tony Sparano http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sport...sweblog+(Miami+Dolphins+|+Sun-Sentinel+Blogs)
Its worth mentioning if Bell is cut loose the team is likely in the market for a small LB or big safety to play coverage linebacker.
Just once I want to click on one of these "Tony Sparano said ____ about a player he's coaching in the Senior Bowl" threads and find the following quote:
I've seen every game of Daryl Sharpton...I do not want anyone from the Dolphins drafting him. He can lay some hits but he gets lost in space. If you're thinking about drafting Daryl Sharpton, better to get Taylor Mays and convert him to LB like the MLB for the Bears (can't believe I forgot his name). There's two players from Miami that are interesting, Sam Shields and Jimmy Graham. They both have high ceilings and could be drafted in the lower rounds. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I agree with you on that, inasmuch as Sam Shields and Jimmy Graham both being very interesting NFL prospects and that I'm not the most onboard with the idea of grabbing Sharpton. None of the UM linebackers have stood out to me as being great for the NFL.
Anyone see Sparano on the NFL network wrap up show last night? He was asked about Pat White and was practically ebullient about his development at QB. He's not about to throw anybody under a bus.
Off of the top of my head John Beason, Rocky McIntosh + Jon Vilma have all been playmakers the past few years. Tho I agree I havent seen much success in the 3-4 from many of them.
Oh I wasn't talking about previous U linebackers, no doubt those guys were really good players. I mean the guys at the U right now at linebacker, none really get me...Sharpton included.
Personally I'm not a fan of Sharpton. I really didnt see an NFL starter when I watched him. I would be pretty disappointed if we drafted him. One, I'm not impresssed with his skill set and two he is tiny. Pretty bad combination for a 3-4 IMO
I didn't miss a single Hurricanes game this year and I've probably watched 'em all through Sharpton's career, and this is very true. He's a special teamer at best at the next level, IMO. He gets lost out there on defense and is often out of position. Had Arthur Brown stepped up like he should have last year... we might of been talking about Sharpton as an undrafted free agent option.
"he really has"....."they really have"....hes "pretty physical"... Really and pretty..2 of tony's favorite words. I really could go for some Sparano impressions.
Thank you! Finally! Sometimes I feel like I live in a world where I'm the only one who sees a player for what he is instead of the thousand things others seem to see. Sharpton couldn't distinguish himself on a D that desperately needed one guy to step up and be a leader; he couldn't distance himself from a pack that was defined by its lack of definition; yet now he's hot ****?! I'm glad he's impressing, and I wish him nothing but the best. But when I read that the Head Coach of MY team is "impressed" with a midget Linebacker who couldn't get out of his own way on his own team, it makes me wonder.
So Coach Sparano how do you feel about Charles Manson breaking out of prison and killing your wife? "He's a tough, smart kid I think he has alot of potential in this league and at the end of the day you want someone to have that take no prisoners, cut throat attitude."
I think he just says nice things about everyone. I will refer you to http://forums.thephins.com/showpost.php?p=1003935&postcount=3
