No David Lee is not an Oracle...

 

David Lee in no way thought this was going to happen. But it's his job to prepare for it, and lookie here, he prepared for it.

 

No, but he did what he was supposed to do, and got his player ready to step in if it came down to it. Good to see he knows how important it is for a backup QB to be ready to step in. The same for a backup backup QB :)

 

Good thing Dan Henning said that he doesn't change his playbook in the slightest way for different quarterbacks, so it should make offensive gameplanning easy for him this week :rolleyes:

 

Hopefully Thiggy tones down his TD celebrations, as the last thing we need to happen is for him to pull a muscle and have to leave the game.

 

You put in Pennington you have to be ready for him to go down. He was annointed a savior here by most without consideration of the THREE previous shoulder surgeries. I tried to tell all the Henne haters this past week he would pick up where he left off and look what happened. People buy into names way too often here and player fans let their emotions run away with them. Henne shouldn't have been benched because it wasn't his fault. Throwing Pennington in there was a big, dumb mistake.
It's called patience. This team and it's fans should learn about it.

Very true. Earlier this week when I wrote, "Every play with Penny in there I'm going to worry about something else besides the ball being snapped" I wasn't kidding. I love Penny, I feel horrible for him, but Henne shouldn't have been benched for him. Pennington is mentally able to play this game as well as anyone, but physically he's through. Those are the facts. All of those who wanted Penny to play are the types that put band-aids over melanoma and hope it just goes away. Well, when the band-aid falls off you still have cancer, and it's probably gotten worse.

Thiggy is a 3rd string QB for a reason. I pray I'm wrong, but I don't see him taking us anywhere. I'd love to eat a great, big plate of Crow if we get into the playoffs, but I just don't see that happening with Thiggy.

 

I didn't buy into the name. I bought into the fact he led our team to it's last playoff appearance. And don't give me the crap about last year's record--because I'll just throw back how the defense killed him against the Colts (just like Henne has the excuse in his favor) and he didn't even play more than a quarter in the SD game.

I like Chad Henne. He looked good yesterday at times--really good. It's a shame he's hurt and I hope he can comeback soon and compete for his starting job again.

What is the point of a fan calling out someone who cheers for the same team out? Calling them dumb, delusional, need to learn from this, etc. etc. is beyond me. It's absolutely pointless. We all cheer for the same team and have different opinions.

 

And someone mentioned we would score 28 pts this week and someone else doubted, as in said "not going to happen" if Pennington started..

Granted, did not know that CP would go down in oh, 53 seconds into the game, but I knew what a change at Qb would accomplish, namely a fresh start.

Either way, I do not care if they sign Tim Rattay from the UFL to play Qb Killahp, my only agenda is "Dolphins Win".

 

The playoffs shouldn't be his measuring stick to how good he is though. You should be using the same measuring stick you use for Chad Henne. This was a 4-4 team with Chad Henne...bad breaks or not. If Tyler Thigpen, gets a few more breaks that should be noted no doubt about it. The idea that Tyler Thigpen can't be good doesn't make sense to me--to many good QBs that have led their teams to being very good/playoff teams have come from the same situation--Kurt Warner, Jake Delhomme, Tony Romo, Tom Brady, Matt Cassell, Danny Kanell, etc. etc.

I don't understand the Pennington, band aid analogy.

 

I mentioned that in another thread last night about you predicting 28 with Pennington. You called it Pod :lol: Well not exactly dead on and who would have thought it would have been like that. I was chuckling during the game about your prediction and how you were going to say "I told you so" if it happens LOL
I agree wins are the most important thing and if we can pull off something like we did yesterday and have that kind of success we should be better with more stability. I hope Thiggy can give us that.

 

I simply hope they do not attempt to change Thigpen into something he is not, he is the anti Henne or Pennington, he can run, he throws well on the run, do not nail his foot down in the pocket.

Funny that the 3rd string Qb hands in plays for the OC to run, a list of their favorites that just strikes me as funny.

Loved seeing Beast on the sideline politiking Thigpen:

I hope we go on this roll and Henne comes back in like 4 weeks or misses "only" 3 games.

Meanwhile, have to like Thiggy as the backup now starting Qb, at least he can run.

 

I'm going to root for Thiggy. I'm going to use the same criteria to grade him as I do for Henne. In fact, I've already been looking more into his career. He's actually played less games than Henne, but he's been in the league a little longer. I'm willing to give him every benefit of the doubt. I really hope he proves me wrong.

However, over his career he has been beaten out by Henne, Pennington, Cassel, and Tavaris Jackson. Thigpen hasn't been able to find ONE other team to make him a starter. That tells me something. All of those things create a great concern for me.

Again, I hope I will be eating crow at seasons end. And yes, maybe the playoffs are a bit too much to expect from a QB that has started only 11 games. But then again, why were so many people wanting him to start if they didn't think he could get us to the post season?

 

Hah, seriously, all I could think watching them sitting on the bench is that they were working out how much Marshall was going to bribe him per pass attempt in the red zone.

 

To be fair, Henne never beat anybody out either.

Nor did Cassell. In fact, Thigpen and Brodie Croyle significantly outplayed Cassell pre-season 2009 but Cassell was Pioli's hand picked guy.

And Thiggy never got the chance to beat out Tavaris Jackson (although I think he would have) because KC poached him off waivers when Minny tried to sneak him onto the practice squad.

I have no idea whether the guy is starter material, but he played really well in KC considering the spot he was in and considering that he was a 6th round rookie out of coastal carolina.

Don't sell the guy short.

I said it then, and will say it now, K.C. made a mistake by not giving Thiggy a chance. I personally thought he was better than Cassell, and I still think that.

Thats just good coaching by Lee. You've always got to have all your guys ready to play. As he said, 2nd stringers, are just one play away, and 3rd stringers are just two away. It is what it is. We should be thankful that Thigpen was ready to go, and was as effective as he was. That's just a good job by Lee.

I wonder if, with this potentially career ending injury for Pennington, does he step in as QB's coach, and Lee gets promoted to say... OC? Just a thought :lol: I don't know if that will happen, but it would be nice to be able to keep Pennington on the coaching staff here as QB's coach, especially since our QB's are both young, Penny would be a huge asset to them when it comes to preperation and execution, much like Lee is doing right now.

 

I'm by no means a Henne hater but did you notice Henne came back in with a diffrent mind set? He knew it was time to put up or shut up. He put the team on the board.

 

It was a great plan by Coach. You put the broken down QB in so he gets hurt immediately, leaves the game, and the kid you just benched comes in with new life.

Sounds about right where Henne typically finishes.

And you should be reminded that you pitched a ***** about Henne being benched that the poor dear would be forever wounded deep in his psyche for riding the pine..boo hoo hoo, and lo and behold, he had one of his better games in terms of pushing the ball down the field.

Now you're just making stuff up........ I said Penny was brittle......I said that this was a desperation move by a coach that needs to be replaced and that Penny was never really that good to begin with.

Penny marched them down the field?.......... he got hurt the first time he was breathed on. He didn't march jack...... Henne however was carving them up before his injury.

The fistpumper and you have a lot in common....... no wonder u like him.
