-Did Nolan really say "innards"?
-Dumervil uses his hands magnificently well, Wake is the better athlete with a better get off and flexibility.

I just hope our defense doesn't do what Nolan's defense did midway last year.

I like that our D faces buffalo in week one. Yes i know they could suprise but it's a smaller step than facing Indy or NO in week 1.

What makes Dumervil stand out is that he has long arms and he is built low to the ground so when he sinks his hips, he powers through very well. He's also got a quick first step, of course, but I think his long arms really make that bulrush lethal.

i'm excited to see the defense; i'm just distracted by the personnel moves

Zach Thomas didnt fit the mold either .He had none of the physical attributes but he sure had those hard to define intangibles .

We can compare him to Nolan's aunt sally. He's Cameron Wake, and his coming to get some unfortunate bastards this season.

Nolan raises one of the same points I did in the Wake thread Crunchtime had on Wake. We'll see how he survives the whole season and playing more downs. Plus the scouting factor.
But, I agree with Alen - front 7 is better than Denver's. I like the front 7 overall better than last year - as far as cohesion and certainly over the next 3 seasons.
So many other questions however. Not liking that going into the season.
I liked the Henning comments on Henne - the only statistic that matters in the upcoming Buffalo game is a "Win."
This really is a MUST win given the schedule after this week (Yeah, I know, every week in the NFL is a must win - the next game is the most important of the season, for sure, as always). A loss Sunday and it's not the end of the world but it will be extremely tough to crawl out of given the schedule following. -
-
Wake just had 39.5 sacks over 2 seasons on Madden & finished 3rd in DPOY twice, so Dumervil can bite me!

Seeing Nolan's defense is one of my strongest desires for Sunday. Henne to Marshall for TD's would rank a damn close 2nd though!

as i stated before ... its the increase in reps (endurance) that concerns me ... as we really need him as a tenacious pass rusher ... since we have NO ONE else to fill that role

Hopefully we find out sunday. -

If it weren't "endurance' it would be "pass coverage" or "run stopping" Coaches just will not give unqualified praise of a player..evah! -
The nature of Coaches is to push push push.
If Ronnie B ran for 2k yds this season, Sparano would talk about his missed blocks, that is just how it is.Oghma likes this. -

I couldn't imagine one of the Dolphins coaches saying something like that. -
Not saying you are reading too much into that comment that Ryan made about the Jets running a Man-Free coverage there but I think a lot of people have read a lot into it. Man-Free is the number one coverage in pro football. Every team runs it to some extent, some run it a lot. Indianapolis runs it quite a bit. What I'm trying to say here is for those who have argued Revis is not the best cornerback because of what Ryan said, then you can say that for most cornerbacks out there. Personally, I think Revis is right up there. Nnamdi Asomugha might be better. Charles Woodson is definitely top three IMO.
-
All I'm saying is that Ryan seems to have a completely different style of media communication compared to most of the other coaches in the league. He's not afraid to come out and sing the praises of his players without couching the praise in qualifiers.
Whether or not that style will help bring success to his team will remain to be seen. -
