I am DLing the "demo" now, and am wondering if anyone tried it out yet?

Let me know, its a big demo, so I want to know if I should continue the DL.

If I get to try it out before anyone, I'll be sure to get a review on here.

I still have to finish Far Cry 2 (its kinda a redundent game) too. Unfortunately, I read the spoiler in this section of the forum by accident. :pity:

    Oh well.

Dammit. I was just making a thread on this LOL.

I was pleasantly surprised when I played Dead Space... EA actually put out a quality game. Very cool, very creative. I was engaged and loved it.

Until about 2.5 hours in. I got stuck in a game ending glitch. There's nowhere for me to go. The platform isn't loading and there's a dead guy floating where the platform is. I now have to start the game over.

    ****.

I was go on a rant about how they finally got the formula right.

    LOL.

Thanks for the review. Just when you think EA does it right, low and behold, their true colors show. :pointlol:

I'm actually looking forward to this, as this seems to be truely unique, unlike most of the games EA puts on the market now a days.

I am intrigued by it, a survival horor game that actually looks scary.
The Resident Evil games have never been frightening, the original's dialogue killed any "horror" feel, and the remake was only scary in some parts.

Did you play the first RE when it first came out in 96? There really wasn't anything in comparison to it. The bad dialogue was actually kind of funny at times I have to admit, and it never took away from the game play and the atmosphere which is what made RE become so popular on the Playstation.

The music, sound effects, clunky controls(yes I actually think that is good for this series), and conspiracy storyline are what made me fall in love with this franchise.

As a horror film buff as well, I have to say that the "scare factor" really doesn't have much to do with scenes where things jump out at you. It's always been more about the atmosphere and the occasional feelings of helplessness. The original RE games were masterpieces in that regard, and the meshing of a major corporate conspiracy with a zombie plague makes for a much more compelling storyline than what the great George Romero pursued in his film work.

I played it all day Sunday, which says a lot as it's not really my kind of game. Had to stop after a while as I found I was fatiguing from being tense for so long. You can tell a lot about a game by the opening 5-10 mins and this one has a pretty damn good opening

    Definitely worth a play. :hi5:

No, not when it first came out, I find the original on Ebay after I played the remake, it was still good though, I think the remake still kept the crepy atmosphere intact though.

I started this game over on Saturday... Got hooked again. Made it past the glitch, and beat it tonight.

    WOW.

What an awesome game. It's like Starwars meets Resident evil meets Bioshock. It actually shares more resemblance to Bioshock than anything. But it was a truly awesome game. I think it's a must play for anyone that's into Adventure games. It's difficult to talk about without spoiling it, but the story gets crazy and the end has several plot twists. It's little linear... There's really no choices to make throughout the game, but it suits the game well.

All in all, loved it. Want more.

The only difference is I'm actually in to this game whereas with Bioshock I got to the same early point twice and quit  It's flown under the radar with the glut of big title games that came out at the same time (Fable 2, Gears of War 2 Fallout 3 to name a few) but as big-a-fable fan as I am I have to say it's actually better than them all. (except GOW2 but then that's hard to beat :chuckle:).

Looks like I am going to have to give this one I try. I absolutely loved Bioshock. If it's anything close to that I will be extremely happy.

I picked up Dead Space last week. Haven't played it yet because I love the new Banjo game too much, but once winter break comes and I'm off from school I'll get to it.

I've been told to add this to my backlog of "goldie oldies" to pick up. I saw it in Gamestation the other day for £9.99 pre-owned (about $16) but since I've already bought Fallout3 GOTY and Borderlands this month I doubt I will be playing it anytime soon. I've still got to get my 1000 GP on MW2 as well.
So little time, so many good games to play. :(

So I started playing this last night. What a cool game and an intense experience. I've just had my first experience with antigrav boots and a vaccuum, and the degree of difficulty seems to be ramping up sharply.

I tried the RE5 demo and disliked the co-op play. So I figured the only time it would be fun would be with friends or on Live so I just went for DeadSpace.

Also if anyone else is interested Gamestop has them new for $20 or used for $18 (the same as Gamefly's price).

A lot of great games this time of year at super cheap prices...my backlog has grown significantly over the last week.

It was on special offer today again for £9. I caved in and bought it although it is behind MW2, Fallout3, Forza3, Halo ODST and Borderlands on my playlist now.

Wow I ended up getting this yesterday and I am very impressed. I was lukewarm on the demo but the game is amazing. It being so cheap already is also a boost and add to that Live having it on their games on demand is even better (although I bought it for the PS3).

    Great game.

Yah picked this up for $20cdn last month. Waited a few days for the right 'weather' (ie: Thunderstorm) outside and turned off the lights and went to town. Pretty solid game. Pleased me more then Mirror's Edge did.
