So, let's make firearms illegal so that only the criminals who don't give a flying **** can really get them.

How would they get them?

To use Fin D's argument from a couple weeks ago; Bazookas are illegal, can I get one of those?

People like to think that there are "Black Markets" down certain back-alleys. That's not really how it works.

I am emotional. I have a 4 years old a 2 year old and my wife is a 4th grade teacher.

But that has nothing to do with the simple fact that this tragedy today could only occur because the guy was able to get a gun, legally I might add.

You can only kill 20 people in a matter of minutes with a gun or a bomb.

Or posion, arsen, etc... point is if someone wants to hurt others they will find a way and a ban on gun ownership wont change that. The proof is in the statistical data. When DC had some of the strictest gun laws in the nation it also had the highest murder rate per capita. I respect why you want to restrict gun ownership but its the wrong solution.

But how would people get drugs if those are illegal?

Throughout this thread and others, you've actually made a better case for banning guns altogether than just regulating them.

Can you grow a gun?

When you try to use broad analogies, they don't always make sense.

You've got zero proof of that.

As I already said, how's that working for drugs? It's only been a 40 year-old war so far.

What does one thing have to do with the other?

Guns are not as easily and cheaply produced as drugs are. You can't equate the two in this instance.

Yea, producing cocaine isn't cheap either but somehow they manage to get it done and fulfill the demand for it. Billion dollar cartels and all.

Also marijuana and cocaine don't walk into a school and kill 27 people including 20 children.

Only a guy with a gun can do that.

Or a guy with explosives. That's if he doesn't blow up his apartment building and all the innocent people in it first.

Except we don't have mass poisonings or arson. We do have a lot of mass shootings though.

And the reason is that it's a lot easier to fire a gun then mass posion people or set a massive fire with the intent of killing a whole lot of people.

That being said, I appreciate that you're at elast reasonable about this topic. So what do you suggest we do? Are shootings like happened to day just a fact of life?

Like I said before. It could happen, yet it doesn't very often.

Because it's hard to do. Guns are easy.

Cocaine isn't that expensive to make compared to the profit made off it.

I am going to sign off another note, despite my opposition to becoming England II like some in here want, I do want better gun control, MUCH better, but I shake my head at anyone who honestly think outlawing guns completely is the answer, it ain't, the black market is always there and if there is anger and madness there will be a will to kill, unarming lawabiding citizens is not the answer.

Heh, not so, those things merely kill more slowly.

I do find the Govt worship comical.

So do tell, why not outlaw death?

Ummm, no. That's not really how the drug market nor gun manufacturing works.

It works here in the UK... hell it works everywhere with gun control, maybe just try it? sure you might not be able to kill a burglar stealing your laptop but hey, maybe children wont die like this.

The Cumbria shootings was a killing spree that occurred on 2 June 2010 when a lone gunman, Derrick Bird, killed 12 people and injured 11 others before killing himself in Cumbria, England. Along with the 1987 Hungerford massacre and the 1996 Dunblane massacre, it is one of the worst criminal acts involving firearms in British history.

lol Really? Anything that becomes illegal immediately has a black market. With guns it'd be huge.

Weren't you the one in that was asking how people would get guns into the country if they were illegal in the Treyvon Martin thread?
