Per team source, Dolphins WR Devante Parker has had foot surgery. Deemed a success, he's on track for Week One.

I wonder what the surgery was and if its something we need to be concerned of

Dolphins WR DeVante Parker had foot surgery today. Was told he had a screw in his foot that was replaced. Should be good for opener.

Well, that stinks! Not a lot of details to go on,

This article does say he'd play this week if it were the regular season, so it must have been something minor.

Parker, the first-round pick in the 2015 draft, had the procedure as a precaution. I am told if this was the regular season, he would be playing this week.

Guess it's a good thing we have Jennings just in case.

Darlington says he had a screw replaced from a broken toe that had been causing him discomfort.

Doesn't seem like a huge deal IMO. He might be even available for some of the pre-season games.

As long as he's ready for the opener I'm not too worried. Other than missing the reps with Thill I don't think it's too big of a deal.

As per Mando:

"Surgery for DeVante Parker
Miami Dolphins wide receiver DeVante Parker had left foot surgery this morning at Doctor's Hospital in Coral Gables.
He will not participate in the team's minicamp and will miss the start of training camp but will be ready for the start of the regular season, per a team source. So breathe. Calm down. It will be OK.
Parker, the first-round pick in the 2015 draft, had the procedure as a precaution. I am told if this was the regular season, he would be playing this week.
But because Parker has been so impressive since joining the team and the plan with him is to be a long-term help rather than a short-term bridge, the club is being cautious to address what I am told is not a big issue now so as to not affect the season.
Obviously, Parker missing the rest of the offseason will set him back a bit on the field. He will, however, be involved in rehabilitation and team meetings.
This means veteran Greg Jennings, signed late in free agency, will likely play a major role in the offense, along with Jarvis Landry and Kenny Stills early in the season as Parker works in.
Two more things:
Parker's injury is similar to the injury linebacker Jelani Jenkins had last year, per a source. Jenkins missed one game as a result.
And Parker did break his left foot in 2014 while at Louisville, forcing him to miss about half the season. He had surgery on that foot and now has had a second surgery on the foot."

Just our ****ing luck.

Headcoach material wouldn’t want to work somewhere they’re not trusted with actual football decisions.

I initially suspected Parker wouldn't contribute much right away, starting the season as the 3rd or 4th WR. Then OTAs came around and reports of him "dominating" made me rethink that. Now it's more likely he'll start the season as a backup, easing into a starting role... IMO, we have plenty of depth at WR, I think we'll be fine in the early part of the season while Parker gets acclimated.

Silver-lining - this will ensure that Tannehill will spend extra time on the other receivers who are all new additions as well (except Landry). It'll give a chance for the coaches to evaluate more passes and catches with all of them, and get a better feel and hopefully improve that connection.

The bottom line here is that Parker isn't gone, he's just taking a break. It's been obvious so far how much natural talent so far. This means that Tannehill won't be able to rely on that during pre-season and when Parker gets back into the game it'll only be a plus.

If you have to have any one of those receivers sit out right now, I think that with his performance so far and his youth Parker would be the best option.

There's talk from Rapaport of him starting the season on the PuP list...which goes against the "ready for week 1" claim. Guess we just have to wait to get the real story.

Pisses me off...

I find Rapoport to be less reliable than a lot of other sources, so I won't be concerned until I hear it from someone else.

If 8-week recovery for Devante Parker is accurate, he should be returning to practice around the time preseason starts.

Well.. I totally agree with this sentiment of the FO. Parker will likely be a big long-term asset, so it's best to plan that way.

Based on camp reports, it doesn't look like Parker needs much acclimation with our system or with Tannehill - his catch radius is making up for any inefficiencies elsewhere. The big question mark and learning curve is going to come when he actually starts playing against NFL calibre DB's. Right thing to do even if he didn't get surgery is to slowly test him against NFL DB's, and if he's ready week 1 that's what we'll do regardless, so this isn't bad news for the 2015 season.

I think you misunderstood Rapoport's report. He said he will likely start TRAINING CAMP on the PUP list. That's different. He can come off that list at any time during camp.

Putting him on that list is a precaution against the possibility of setbacks in his recovery. If he were to have a setback then you would be happy that you started him on the PUP list in camp because now he's eligible to start the regular season on the PUP list, which means you can get him back as early as Week 7. If he hadn't started camp on the PUP list and he had a setback then you would be faced with either rostering him while he's hurt, or putting him on one of the Injured Reserve lists, be it the one that forces him to miss half the season or the one that forces him to miss the entire season.

Nothing Rapoport said is evidence that he won't be available Week 1.
