Can you believe this! It just keeps getting better, or worse! http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/05/03/dez-bryants-mom-was-arrested-again-in-2009/
well i hope for dez's sake the apple fell far from the tree, but jesus Im surprised he's not worse then he is currently to be honest.
Why? He's the one who leaked this story. I wouldn't be surprised if his entire family's past isn't made very public very soon.
Lets remember. Dez brought this upon himself when he mentioned the question to the media. I feel bad for him at this point. I bet he didn't have the foresight to think it would snowball like this. The question may have been inappropriate (although Ireland is becoming vindicated with each passing day), but it a terrible idea to draw attention to your family with a checkered history.
Because compassion is my heart's only protection against a story that has gone from bad to worse. You can't tell me you don't feel for a kid brought up in those circumstances. Even if he is to blame, he's just an immature kid and this story can't fade fast enough for me.
Completely agree. He brought the spotlight on himself and his past family life. But no child should have to deal with all that as they grow up.
Seriously. At this point, everyone involved said lets move on, but it's the people not involved that keep it going. He's on Dallas team now. We have our own crazy WR to hope nothing blows up. We don't need to follow two.
This entire story, from Straight outta Davie Jeff Ireland to Mike Silver to Dizzy bringing it up in Dallas to the MIQ is like a football made out of crap, the more you toss it around, the more **** gets on your hands. Let us put this stuff in the rearview mirror and stop getting dookie all over ourselves?
No surprise the guy with more red flags than mini-lobster season in the Keys is causing the most drama. Where is Jones in relationship to his #1 pick during this fiasco?
this is why I was so adamant about not drafting the guy. He has the personality of a child and the media is going to hover around him until he learns to shut up or pick the typical no answer football cliches that all other players learn quite quickly. He also doesnt understand that the media is part of the business and will take this reporting of his family history personally. Remember the quote about how people didnt want him to play in the NFL being the reason the character concerns were coming up prior to the draft. This guy is going to mentally fall apart in the NFL
Sheeesh, You had to go and pull the 'compassion card on me'. Do I feel some compassion for the kid? Of course I do. Who wants to have a childhood like his. Who knows what was said in his interview? Only Jeff and Dez will know the truth. Well that is unless a tape, audio or video is released of the actual interview. What we do know though is it was Dez that leaked this story. I'm not sure what he was looking to gain from leaking it. Some sympathy perhaps but who knows. Shortly after it was leaked Jeff issued a public and private apology. Jeff said that Dez had accepted the apology but when asked during various interviews Dez only says he wants to let the story die. So who knows if it was or was not actually accepted or not. Nor should it really matter for the most part. Now Dez's mother goes public with a statement ignoring Dez's wishes to let the story die. With that the reporters are going to continue to do their job and search for the truth. In this search they are going to dig up more and more dirt. Or at least that's the way it looks and it's the way it's started. Do I have compassion for the kid? I do but not nearly as much as I did and what I have left is slowly starting to wane. Jeff was doing his job when he asked about this kids family. Don't flame me I hate the question he asked and know that there are a dozen other ways he could have asked the same question. The Dolphins needed to know what sort of baggage this kids going to carry around with him. I have read that his mother is going to be living with him and any team that signs him needs to know what they are getting. Once again do I have compassion for this kid? Yes, but that's only the short answer.
Nah..... it'll go away when he gets his family to shut up He'll get his family to shut up when he gets tired of opposing CB's asking him what is was like to be raised by Huggy Bear and wanting to know if he got his momma a crack pipe for christmas. He's stupid....... but that SOB can catch a football.
Would you pay to bump uglies with Mizz Bryant? In any case, if Dez can make himself a solid player and have a great career he'll end up being an inspirational role model for kids that are raised by pimps and hos.
Does anybody else find it totally ironic that the Cowboys gave Bryant #88, Michael "two ho's to go" Irvins number?
"....His story can be an inspiration to many children who endure difficult upbringings, and we hope that Bryant becomes the kind of role model that so many kids who can relate to his situation need." God - I am so tired of this NFL "poor troubled minority escaped the ghetto" crap. Now due the multiple minority college grants and foundations 80% of the NFL players are minorities and people like Jeff Ireland have to tip toe around his normal player interview questions because he was interviewing a minority. If Ireland would have asked that same line of questions to a white kid nothing would have been run in the media at all. In fact I am willing to bet that if Dez were a white kid the story about his mother wouldn't have been held back so long and it would have probably been on every coaches lips long before draft day. Ireland shouldn't apologize for his character question - the sport and its media hyperventilation should apologize to him for dragging him into their fantasy world. .....and before anyone asks; no I am not prejudice - I am just a realist.
Some of the comments on there on quite funny...I like this one: Poo Flinging Monkey says: May 3, 2010 9:00 PM So she wants an apology from Jeff Ireland? "Ms. Bryant, I'm terribly sorry I suggested you were a prostitute when you were clearly a crack dealer. Regards, Jeff"
From listening to them, you would think that was the past, cuz she was talking about 1997.....but dude August of 2009!!! That happened like yesterday!!!...Classy family...
Dez's Mother Has a Pet Tiger? DEZ BRYANT'S MOTHER DEMANDS APOLOGY, ENDS DRUG DEALING EMPIRE LUFKIN, TX – Angela Bryant spent Monday afternoon doing some spring cleaning, washing her windows, sweeping the front porch, and throwing out a virtual mountain of illicit drugs and related dealing paraphernalia. Still, she couldn’t hide what was really on her mind, the insensitive question asked of her Son by Miami Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland. “Yes I’m upset about it,” Bryant said, wheeling a scale and 100 kilos of uncut cocaine to the curbside trash can. “He has not called, but I think he should have.” Questions about her son Dez’s background dogged him through much of the pre-Draft process, and may have led to his tumble towards the bottom of round one. Angela has been very unhappy with attempts to dig up dirt on her talented child. This frustration has been obvious in her several recent gunfights with other dealers. As the questions surrounding Dez grew louder, so did the body count at the local morgue. “It’s almost like a scheme,” she said, bagging up a gas mask converted into a crack pipe before pulling her .44 Magnum and firing seven rounds at a passing Land Rover. “They are talking about my charges of 12 years ago and running with it,” she complained, before quickly crumpling up a nearby police report from her April 2009 crack dealing arrest, pointing her gun at us, and explaining that we “didn’t see nothin’”. “What is wrong with this world? Where have the manners gone?” Bryant asked moments later, stopping a passing bicyclist, putting her gun in his mouth, and demanding the $170 he owed her. Angela remains wounded, but isn’t going to simply wait for the Dolphins’ GM to seek her out. She has asked a former supplier in the Keys to personally pass her number along to Ireland. “He’d better call me, or it’s curtains,” Bryant said, slowly running her finger along her neck, then boarding up her tunnel to Mexico. “I’m just trying to move on from the past,” she explained, dumping piles of blood-splattered cash from a carved out mattress into a Glad bag, then tossing her firearm into a secret compartment in the back of her freezer. “Dez is taking me to look at houses. I’m thinking a home theatre. Maybe a koi pond full of piranha?” “I’m not a perfect person, but me? A prostitute? That man has some nerve,” Bryant added before prying the body of a rival dealer out from under her floorboards and feeding it to her pet tiger, “Eight Ball”. –
