watching this game yesterday, I was waiting for us to go deep, taking advantage of the 32nd pass defense. Instead I saw screen after screen and short passes. I know Parker and Stills were hurt, but it was obvious Gase was not going to let a turnover lose this game. Have we seen a new paradigm now in this team? Maybe the Jets did something I missed. SD has a bottom 5 pass defense too.
I am not opposed to this, however, teams will make sure the run is a priority and Miami will have to use play action fakes and loosen up the defenses. Miami will have to have some threat passing the ball.

I think when we play low scoring offenses with good defenses like Seattle we go into a conservative game plan under gase. Which is fine so long as ajayi is rushing for 100 yards. I think vs san Diego we will have to open it up but if the run game is working at high gear maybe we stay with it. You don't abandon a good running game until it gets stopped

Their dline was winning the Los by a pretty substantial margin.

Stills was out and Parker can't seem to get open. They missed on the one to Caroo. IMO with Stills out we don't have any deep threats who are playing well. I didn't see it as shackles on Tannehill. I thought he did a nice job moving in the pocket as his protection wasn't great. We have some offensive issues, but they're more about the WRs than the QB right now.

The game plan was odd. Not only a lot of short passes, but a lot of the same play calls over and over. The pass protection wasn't good though.

I wouldn't say that at all. When you're facing a DL like the Jets have, a quick passing game is necessary. Then when your only deep threat (Stills) is out, you've lost your ability to stretch the defense. Landry isn't really a deep threat, he's great at what he does though. Parker is invisible out there and quickly approaching bust status IMO. Combine all that and your offensive abilities are pretty limited. Surprised we didn't have more opportunity against that secondary though, but I think it's time we start to realize what Parker may be. Soft, and not the impact player at WR that he has the potential to be. He doesn't really give the impression that he wants it bad enough.

To the OP; it's hard when your top two receivers are not on the field or playing hurt. Parker re-hurt his hamstring and he was expected to be a scratch for the game, so he was basically out there playing decoy while running short routes. Stills was doing the same thing since he was sick and had no energy. That put everything on Landry and receivers who normally don't take the field at all, which meant that Tannehill had zero reps with these guys. In recent years, that would have spelled a blowout for this squad...so I'm okay with the stats showing a lethargic offense for a week. There's only one stat I care about that really matters at this point, the W.resnor likes this. -

Once Stills left the game because of illness, Parker became a complete non factor. Whether he is still recovering from his early season injury or he has just regressed from how he played late in the season last year, the Dolphins need him to step up his game.
At this time, he is starting to look like another wasted first round draft pick for the Dolphins. -
I think he played fine, hes a limited talent. So long as he doesnt **** his pants we are okay.. he managed the game well and didnt screw up.. what else can u ask for from tannehill at this point..

Go back and look to last season.
Tannehill threw the football 102 times in two losses to the Jets.
Just reminding everyone that the play calling is already better under Gase than that ego maniac Bill Lazor.Piston Honda likes this. -
How is a WR running a fly pattern going to get lit up if they don't throw his way? Even if they do throw his way, he is built more like a mini RB and has taken plenty of punishment both in the return game and as a WR in college and has shown no ill-effects. Not playing him as a WR because you fear he may get hurt is very Philbinesque. -

I loved the run to pass ratio on Sunday.
