    From profootballtalk:

Not sure if that's the quote you are reffering to? It's true, he has had a great career. But nothing to show hes done IMO

Hey whats this weeks lottery numbers?

    Anyways.

If its the part I think he stuttered saying along the lines of being in Indianapolis where Peyton played, and stuttered and then said plays, it was kinda jumbled mess.

He was asked about playing the Super Bowl in Indy and he talked about reflecting on Indy is where "Peyton played his entire NFL...." and then quickly changes gears and says "plays for the Colts"
You have to see it to know what I'm talking about. Just the way it comes out and the look on his face.......or maybe I'm just bored.

After all this time and still he has no velocity in his throws.
Time to hang 'em up man.

Yeah, Yahoo made a big news story out of this too. I didn't really see it, but who knows. Certainly possible that he's done and Eli would be one of the first to know.

Well, you can just read into that awkwardness that Eli understands that Peyton is probably not going to be playing for the Colts -if he plays at all again. The other news about the nerves not regenerating is more important. That could change of course in the next couple months, but I can't see how the Colts could pay that $28 million unless Peyton is very near 100%. I don't think even Peyton knows if he is done, but things don't look good.

It brings up an interesting situation, do you still go after Peyton (hoping he does get better in time to play this year) or write him off and concentrate on getting Flynn and/or drafting a QB? Even with a contract filled with incentives and such signing Peyton means Flynn would want to go elsewhere.

I don't think he let out any secrets beyond what he feels is most likely to happen. This really isn't news to anyone except for those that kept talking about Manning to Miami as if it were something that was likely to happen. The fact is that his nerve has not regenerated. Usually when nerves are going to regenerate it happens fairly quickly (10 days - a few weeks). Once it doesn't happen quickly, it becomes one of those nobody knows things. It could take years and may never happen. Once it didn't happen quickly then the odds greatly favored his career being over. This is not a predicting the future thing. It's just an understanding of the odds. As I've said in the past, speculating about Brees to Miami made more sense just based on odds and I would consider that speculation as a waste of time as well.

I always thought Manning to Miami was a pipe dream too. I guess I'm just bored and trying to find something to talk about.
This beats all the Brandon Marshall bashing going around the boards.

Apparently he lost a lot of velocity in his throws. Time to hang'em up Peyton, its sad that his career is going to end this way.

Time to move on guys, lets hope Flynn is the real deal.

It's still all speculation at this point. I'm not even paying attention until something actually happens. Personally, I would say the smart money is that he's done but he could have medical improvement in the next month. No one knows **** at this point and none of the media info has any substance outside of speculation.

That's what we saw with Marino when he had a similar, but far less severe injury.

OK, I am actually an expert here. Finally!

I broke my neck in a car accident in 1989. I had spinal fusion surgery. My c5 and c6 vertebrae were crushed and had to be replaced with part of my hip. My left arm was paralyzed and my arm and shoulder had nerve damage, since the nerves were severed at my spinal chord. Yes, I know I am lucky to be alive. Anyhow the point is the doctor told me that the nerves will grow back and my arm should work again. It took just under 2 years for me to have my use of my arm again. The nerves grow at the rate of 1 millimeter per month. So Peyton Manning will not regain full use of his arm for at least another year. IMO.

Looks like it's on Peyton as to what he wants to do. The Colts have already decided internally. Likely is that they will release him to avoid payment of the $28m. Then Peyton will have to rehab on his own and try to come back when he's ready or retire. He will have to prove he can throw a football before anyone signs him to a contract. This isn't some vet. min deal here with Peyton. He will have to prove he's back before anyone makes a financial commitment to him again. We could be looking at one of those August signings. Or he could sit another year and see how he progresses.

dont you think the technology would have since then become even better, i mean 1989 till now is 20+ years, probably the nerv grow rate stays equal, but his surgery also is already some months behind, good to hear you made it back to your normal self though, or do you have any restrictions ?

My left arm is only about 80% strength. But I wasn't the best at my physical therapy either. I still have numbness in my shoulder and part of my forearm. And this was 20 plus years ago.

    Glad your ok.

People recover at different speeds, people have different pain thresholds, that's why doctors give a time frame. They are never sure themselves.

    the poor house

you are right Peyton is done and there is nothing to see because the dolphins are in horible draft position .maybe we should make Sage Rosenfels our qb trade up for Blackmon and draft Levy Adcock Kidding sort of. actually we should trade down to bottom of the first round and get more draft picks.

I didn't watch the whole video, just went to the 8:55 mark. Personally, I don't see where he misspoke or did any hand tipping. But, that's JMO.

As for Peyton's future, it's anyone's guess. But, I've read reports that he has said he won't play for anyone other than the Colts. If true, add any set backs to his recovery, along the likelihood that the Colts will release him before shelling out $28,000,000 for an aging QB with a neck injury with nerve damage, and all the uncertainty surrounding his future, and I think it all adds up to retirement.

    JMHO.

I think the disgusted look on his face after the THIRD Payton question, may have been a look that said. Do you want to talk about Me and My Team or my brother?

Now reports say he has been medically cleared to continue his career (Mort). And of course his brother Cooper said he does not want to retire.

He and Larry Fitz are close friends, and the Cardinals play inside a dome in an easier division. They seem like front runners to get him if he plays.

The Dolphins took a gamble on Daunte Culpepper and that was a failure, however we didn't take a gamble on Brees and we all see how that turned out.
