I thought he just said that?
He did say Cowher does not care about money just that he's in a place where he can win...whatever that means..lol
Interpretations??

Haven't been watching, but if Ross wants Cowher it means Ireland has to go along with Sparano. I'd sense that means Omar Khan would be coming with Bill, or at least something along those lines.

It means Cowher only comes back to a situation that has a high percentage chance of winning consistently and deeply into the playoffs. As it should , sure he won't coach for free but it has to be the right scenario , right now that certainly isn't in Miami imo. Never heard the inference that Cowher and Ross are close.

You know the x's and O's thing has been, and will be talked about a lot here, but I think you have to find the guy that epitomizes what you feel makes a great head coach, and to me, its this, I plagiarized it from an old friend who does not frequent these boards anymore, unfortunately..
He said this {I know he wouldn't mind} and I completely agree and think Cowher has the makeup..
The "Ray Lewis Effect" IMO.
Again, another reason it's so difficult to project coordinators into head coaching positions. You never know how much their success as coordinators has been based on their players.
How good of a coordinator is Tom Moore, for example? Can anyone really say?
Really IMO a great head coach is a guy who knows the psyche of players and the culture of teams, and applies that knowledge to the development of player leadership and a winning team culture.
He can do all that while he hires good coordinators to do the technical Xs and Os stuff he used to do.
The success at Xs and Os takes a distant backseat once a guy becomes head coach IMO. At that point it's primarily about organizational behavior, management, and leadership, and secondarily about game management. -
King did say it, but King is one of the most wrong insiders of the league. He is the Buster Onley of the NFL.

Jon Gruden probably isn't either.
Right now, I'm starting to lean more and more towards Rob Chudzinski. I am just enamored with what he has done with Cam Newton. Could you imagine what Chud could do with Andrew Luck? -
Chud isn't a bad option. However, Ross has stated that he is not looking for a guy that is going to be getting on the job training. This means there will be no assistant coaches getting their first gig as a head coach in Miami.
I think it will be Jeff Fisher. -
Either way, I don't see why our situation would deter him, to achieve what he wants, comes down to deep pockets from the owner, and the ability to build your own staff..He would have that here. -

He said Cowher is high on our list and sources close to Cowher say....

Cowher is my #1 candidate. Gruden #2, Fisher a distant 3rd.
Cowher built a dynasty in Pittsburgh. They're still playing with his pieces today. To me, a successful team is much more than just a good coach and good players. A great organization MAKES great coaches and players. Cowher has been around that, and instituted it, I'd love to see if he can do it again in Miami.
Gruden isn't coming of course, I think he's a good coach but he made me a bit nervous. I think he's a great coach, but I'm not sure he could bring that organization prowess that Cowher could.
I think Fisher is a good coach...but I HATE his game management. While he's a better coach than Wanny, he plays with the same "play not to lose" mentality. If he were our coach, I think we'd get tired of holding off late comebacks REALLY fast. My brother is a huge Titans fan, and has wanted to move on from Fisher for years. As my brother said...Fisher does a great job of bringing talent out of his guys, and getting them ready to play. But after the first half he goes into defense ground and pound mode.

Cowher is high on our list...
The sky is blue... -
And one thing that is concerning is what comes with success is having your coordinators poached. Cowher was quite reliant on Dick Lebeau for example... but luckily didnt have to worry about him ever going elsewhere.
On the filp side... and guy like Belichick is a pure crazy X's and O's guy. Hes had countless coordinators poached from his staff year after year and it hasnt mattered. -
Peter King first was upset that one of the other guys busted his scoop that the tying 2 point conversion was a Tebow audible, so he explained what Tebow said, which is that he saw two linebackers coming from the left so he just audible to run right.
After that he said that he spoke with a source 'very close with' Cowher and that money is not an issue for him, he just wants to go into the situation that is bes for winning.
I think some people in this thread are misinterpreting that to mean he wants a team that is already built fir him. That is NOT how I would take that. But what do we hear about all the time? Setting up a winning organization. I think that's what Cowher is talking about. I don't know what the secret is but you hear people like Michael Lombardi talking about the way the team is organized being a big impediment for Jim Harbaugh...and how the Patriots have their organization done, etc. Whatever it is these coaches like to see, I don't think Miami has it, and Cowher wants to see an A+ organization around him that will help him win. -
Hate to burst everyone's bubbles but....

And that is Andrew Luck's lap.ssmiami likes this. -
Nothing is going to happen anytime soon.
But I sense Cowher would come here if we had the #1 pick, and maybe even if we don't if he like Landry Jones or RG3. He has to watch Miami every week since he's been on CBS and has been around Marino...it's crystal clear he knows as well as everyone that any team needs a Franchise QB first and foremost. -
I think what is important for Bill Cowher is setting up a first class organization and that is why he is rumored to want to bring Omar Khan and/or Kevin Colbert with him. The Steelers have a great organization and he wants those guys to set that up here.
But that #1 overall pick is a nice carrot. -

The last thing I want is another Jimmy Johnson situation. Comes to coach us and leaves after a couple years because his heart isn't in it.
