I agree Tua could have handled the question differently but calling someone dumb for losing their cool with the media is a little over the top. I'll give you a better example of what "dumb" is. How about throwing the ball out of bounds on 4th down to end the game against the Colts instead of putting it up for grabs in the field of play? That was dumb.
How is my question a deflection, lol? Even if his remark was just directed at the media (which you and I don’t know for sure although I tend to agree with you) don’t you think he could’ve handled himself smarter then he did? Don’t matter if you’re pro or anti Tua and putting „know“ and „feel“ with the two camps paints the perfect picture.
Look, I won’t hide it. I despise the press. I ALWAYS have so this isn’t any revelation with current events outside of football however, ONCE UPON A TIME… Sports journalists used to cover the who, what, when, where, why and how of sports and did so objectively. They were the last cornerstone if you will of true journalism. In the recent 20 years however, they too have begun delving further and further into the realm of criticism, debate and sensationalism. This I utterly despise. Instead of getting facts to report, they are now going for belittlement and got’cha, the same as mainstream media. I have no issues with analysist, watchng Sunday morning football programs analyzing teams, players and critiquing in that fashion. That’s THEIR job but but when you’re just a reporter, that’s not. So when Tua, who did not go Ryan Leaf on a reporter trying to be critical and trying to back Tua into a corner gets his balls busted, I’m all in favor of Tua. And to demonstrate my full commitment to my views, that could have been Tom Brady up there instead of Tua and I would have been on Brady’s side.
The question from the journalist wasn't snarky, and this is very basic to expect this type of question considering how important of a play it was. Here's the transcript: (The missed handled snaps, what can be done there? Is it as simple as catching the ball, which you mentioned about the one from shotgun, but we also didn't get to ask you about the one under center that occurred, too.) – "It's as simple as catching the ball in the gun. I would say I'm a pretty good shortstop guy; I have pretty good vision; I have pretty good hands. I'd like to see a lot of other people go in the back there and try to catch that ball, too. You've seen it – it wasn't 'Brew's' (Aaron Brewer) best and 'Brew' knows he can get it better, but it wasn't my best as well. But I'm just saying to give perspective, it's not as easy as what it looked like sitting down on your couch eating chips." (And the under center one?) – "The under center one? That was just my fault, that was just my fault."
I don’t have it. Tua is in the dog house for several reasons, for me anyways. I’d like to take today to see what is ceiling is at this point and the re assess
Actually the one under center he hiked it I to his perineum and I wouldn’t call that one Tua’s fault but the one in shotgun was.
No bad decisions? Did you miss the headfirst dive for a 1st down? It worked out for us but, it was so similar to the last time when it didn't work out. I fear he hasn't learned anything. The boy has heart but, he doesn't have a boulder for a head like Allen has.
Had to do it to get the first down and that’s the only way he could of done it, he made the right call and executed, wasn’t anyone that’s he was running into just diving to get the first
LOL No... We cannot say after the fact that diving head first was the right call. If you jump off of Niagra falls and somehow live... you cannot say afterwards it was not a stupid thing to do. Suriviving does not change the stupidity... Surviving does not mean it was extremely dangerous. There is no viable defence for Tua to be running with the ball making a diving head first play in the middle of the field with defenders nearby.... Period.
Hooligan, he wasn’t at risk of contact when he went head first on that play. Now if he was trying to barrel through a defender to get that first down, I’d be saying, “yea, what Hooligan said”
Uh it's sad that that was the most exciting play for fans in a game that we lost. Shouldn't our offense be able to do something that would get a bigger applause. Honestly, you guys are just twisting things outrageously now to fit your narrative about people. Pretty gross.
Res you totally twisted this around like a pretzel. The exchange with the media was about the snap and resulting safety. How does that have anything to do with the crowd reacting to Tua sliding? I honestly don't get what the what you're talking about.
If you study the play you will see it was his only chance to get the first and no immediate danger I’m good with the decision.
Why would I be talking about Tua's exchange with the media, when discussing the applause when he slid? I'm saying, I think the offense is pretty poor if the biggest applause was Tua sliding. You were bagging on the dude for saying it was sad that the biggest applause in the game was his slide. No one is arguing that he shouldn't have slid. It just shouldn't be the most exciting thing the offense does.
My God man. Do you watch baseball? Sometimes a pitcher will throw nine balls in a row and then finally throws a strike and the crowd goes wild sarcastically. Is that the most exciting part of the game? You're the most literal-minded person I've ever seen.
That was some hi level qb play shown by Tua Some some movement you didn’t see last quarter of the season last year because he was overweight. I liked the way he anticipated pressure and moves around Loved the conversion with his legs and the dive for the first. Wickedly accurate
