For those who missed it, here is the interview he did with WQAM.

It opens some eyes...but ultimetly iim supporting this regime 100%
Bottom line, if Tony decided to sit his ***, so be it. -

I'm sure this sort of thing happens on every team every year, but you don't hear about it when the team wins. If they won 11 games, and had a playoff win, nobody would be saying squat. As it was, we won 7, missed the playoffs, so it comes out.
I'm sure it's no big deal, and Joey likes to talk a lot and so does Channing. Channing probably likes Joey and was just defending him, as friends do. Like me, I might think my company screws w/ some of my friends from time to time, but I ain't quitting, and overall, I'm happy. That doesn't mean everything is perfect, but things work.
Notice too the Patriots. They've probably been having issues for years, but nobody said anything. This year, when the bloom is off the rose a bit, people start talking about Randy Moss quitting and what not. Imagine if they went 6-10!
This is nothing, that's my point! Now, if the Dolphins fail on the field next year, then I'll believe Sparano has lost the team. Until then, I'm all in! -

Figures Crowder would stick up for Porter. No surprise really. :pity:
I hope there is a complete overhaul of the LB corp. I'd love to see both Porter and Crowder gone. Sick 'n tired of their mouths and substandard play.
Just one man's opinion.dukane5, xphinfanx, High Definition and 6 others like this. -
From what I gather, it's pretty clear Porter is upset about losing playing time to a younger guy. Boo-freaking-hoo.
He complains about not being looked at as a leader, then proceeds to rip his teammates and coaches. Really Joey? You're seriously wondering why you weren't viewed as a leader?

I would guess that if Porter had produced more when he was on the field he would have gotten more playtime.
On the other hand the way Wake played I was surprised Wake didn't get more play time.Larryfinfan likes this. -

If Crowder has a problem, I hope he speaks up, and states it, we can package him up nice like a X-Mas present you are excited to get, and then when u open it, u are disappointed in the results.....Refurbish this LB corp, for having the absolute worst LB'ing corp in football, they sure do talk like they are good I'll tell ya....blow it up Tuna, and start over, as they say (nicely put) crap ain't crap, so you won't miss anything anyway....get some guys in here with workman like attitudes, that want to compete, and play football.........god forbid somebody competes for a job nowadays...

He said the situation was uncomfortable, which I'm sure it was. He says Porter is a great guy, etc. But did he really say anything negative about Tony Sparano? Sounds like he is just being diplomatic, and probably trying help out a guy that he considers a friend.
I would say the only person with a real problem is Joey Porter.Sceeto, GridIronKing34 and dolphan117 like this. -

he shouldn't be talking

Maybe hearing his interview should be required before ripping into Crowder now as well?LandShark13 likes this. -
well done...:pity: -
crowders probably upset as a few others are im sure so he is stating as such.like it or not porter was a leader for a bit, so his being upset will lead others to being upset.
-
What I have an issue with is Porter's actions, not Crowder, who really said nothing to disrespect Sparano at all. -
Even better done. :pity:LandShark13 and Stringer Bell like this. -

the coaches were too busy waiting to see if he double parked his car at the facility so they can bench him a game. According to him.LandShark13 likes this. -
just like porter
crowder is a douchebag -
second, Mcfadden isnt the solution to anything. -
Porter needs to go, Crowder needs to step up his game BIG time, or else he needs to go too. I wouldn't crucify Crowder for statements made on a radio show though.
-
Do we lock them in a room and only let them out to practice and play on sundays?
When they get hurt, we take them out back and shoot them?LandShark13 likes this. -
I seriously do not think that the team sat him out out of spite. That's cutting off your leg to save your foot. I just find it impossible to believe. There have been other players I am sure on this regime that have violated team regulations from time to time, but were not subjected to an entire season of blatant insults.
I'm sure both sides are not entirely telling the truth here, but I'd advise against taking Porter's word as the gospel. He's got just as much to gain in this situation by trying to save face/up market value -
Players are always ultimately going to be unhappy when they see their role reduced in a system. Porter refusing to leave the field is why he was benched. He's lucky based on the way he played this year that they didnt just out-right cut him when he pulled that crap. I know alot of coaches that would have never let him step back on the field after pulling that stunt.
I don't think Sparano lost anything with the players over this event. He does alot of things right and I'd be surprised if the team wasn't behind him if he ever had his back to the wall. Players will support players, coaches will support coaches but ultimately the real team core sticks together (players and coaches) through thick and thin. Winning makes it all good, losing makes it all a bigger problem. Personally I think Porter's injuries hurt his performance this year and he seemed to wear out a bit as well, which is natural given his age. His mouth though wears on everyone. He has heart, and thats likeable, and can be a leader... but he also shows stupidity and selfishness and that's why I'd never count him as a real leader. His refusal to submit to the coaches decisions illustrate that perfectly. It's not Porter's job to call plays or decide who plays when. That's Sparano's job.
I'd like to move on without him at this point and play the younger guys, I think they are ready. -
-
And we don't know the full story as to why he was benched, and probably never will. The fact that they've never done that before (with the exception of Ted Ginn, who's troubles are more mental than anything else) tells me there's a pretty good chance it was warranted.dolphindebby likes this. -
The problem with Crowder is convincing Porter to come on the show knowing he's going to air his dirty laundry and by extension create dissention within his team. The comment about Wake needing to improve his coverage skills is clearly a pot/kettle situation. Porter is obviously gone and without a cap I'm sure Crowder may be at risk. He simply isn't good enough to justify the distraction he's become. Neither were acquired by the Trifecta (although Crowder was extended) so I doubt they'll take much issue with dumping both. Don't forget, LB is collectively our least performing unit.

Oh and Crowder's comment about wanting his two pro bowlers out there with the game on the line...does he not remember he made his only play of the year against NE because Wake was all over Brady? Crowder's overall comments were not blatant but provided behind closed doors insight the Trifecta loathes. Just ask Jay Feely how media darlings are treated by this regime.
-
I remember waaaaaay back when Shula's guys hated him because of his discipline. Zonk & Kiick really got all over it. Zonk in a fairly recent statement about Shula said he wouldn't want to play for him, if he had it to do over again.
Shula didn't put up with anything, so, I'm hoping that's Tony's way of thinking.
Look how far the team always went with Shula at the helm. Could be that this is what we've needed for a long time now. And IF the truth ever comes out, then I'll believe it. But, I doubt it ever does.
I believe a lot of these players are just little boys in grown up clothes. -
In the end, Shula gave his better players a pass for all type of bad behavior. He treated guys like men.
Curfew? really? -
Never said Shula was innocent, but he was respected by is players and peers. And his teams were winners. So he did more right than wrong.
Don't remember about Clayton.
Don't understand the curfew comment. -
The curfew comment was about the genesis of this whole brew haha. Porter missing curfew by an hour. -
Sec, the curfew is public propaganda Sparano and the Dolphins are throwing out there. There's no way in hell that's why he was suspended. They may have told Joey that was part of the reason, but I guarantee it pales in comparison to whatever it is they were really pissed about.
My guess is they were upset about him not coming out of games when asked. He pulled the same **** last year in the New England game, and surprisingly the regime did nothing. When you have 17.5 sacks, they let it slide. You have a down year, you get benched for a game.Stringer Bell likes this. -
Can't compromise the integrity of the program by allowing people to get away with the little things IMO.
It's the principle of the matter not necessarily that he broke curfew.jetssuck likes this.
