I know some point to his excitement, and thats fine. Me personally I see very few other coaches getting that excited over a fg and behaving that way. Couple that with the fact I hope over the last two years he has learned fg's in many instances are why his Dolphins lost, and I almost find it insulting at certain times. Do you think his behaviour changes next season or is he just that guy?

Watching him on the sidelines during the Raiders game was an absolute embarrassment! Jesus Morano you barely slipped by Oakland relax! They guy let's his emotions get out of control and it effects his game day performance! Ever see Belicheat pull that ****? No! Because he is way to busy adjusting his game plan!
The bigger question is will he fist pump after signing his contract extension? -
I hope so. He should get excited any time we score any points.

was it the Raider game or the Lion game where he did the fistpump followed up by the self chest pat? the "im all heart" one. anyone catch that? I think it was after a Lou Polite 4th and 1 conversion, not even a fg if I recall correctly.

And to think I caught crap when I said that he looks like an idiot cheering field goals. I'm glad some people see it my way.

Wow...some here are agreeing with a damn, dirty Jests fan. No offense BB.
I love Sparano's energy, his fire, and his emotion. After the Dolphins score points, do you think he should chastise the players? Do you honestly believe that he wouldn't have rather put up 6 than 3? Do you ****ing think Belicheat wishes Vinateri had missed those 3 FG's that won him his Super Bowl rings? Do you think Belicheat "fist pumped" those FG's? Sure, our FG's weren't Super Bowl winning FG's, but a lot of them won us games. And ANY time you can put up points in this league you should be excited.
Here's the deal, he is a millionaire doing something that nearly everyone here wishes they could do but aren't smart enough, savvy enough, or dedicated enough to do it. You're all jealous of Tony Sparano and I find that amusing.2socks likes this. -

In all seriousness, that has to stop. I hope someone says something and he gets his head on straight that a FG is not a victory!!! (unless it's at the end of a game for a win). Otherwise, a FG is a defeat. -

Bellicheck does very little during game. The game is in the hand of his other coaches. Which is where the difference lies. Bellicheck's assistants are very very good at their individual assignments. That is why we have seen several go on to become head coaches, coordinators , etc. If you have excellence every where there is a coach it filters down to the team. The Patriots operate on auto pilot on game day. The excellence in those areas is why Bellicheck can make a average player and make them very very good. Look at players that have left, not quite the same. It is because the "system" that is in place is self functioning, and designed to optimize the players strengths not their weakness'. I hate to toot Bellicheck's horn but the guy is exceptional, well his systems are.

on more than one occasion BB has taken his defense aside and given them a talking to. if you dont think BB isnt one of the most detail oriented, well prepared HC's, not sure what to say. -

Sadly, yes. The guy is a clown. Give me a coach who gets pissed when the team has to settle for a FG, not one who's happy about it. Luckily, we'll only have to deal with it for a few weeks, he'll be fired mid season at best.

im honestly blown away some people still defend this guy. his team laid down on him. even his most staunch supporters back on finheaven finally saw the light and stated the obvious. calling Tony Sparano a bad HC ( calling a spade a spade ) doesnt make you any less of a fan you know. in fact i see it as the opposite. it makes you a great fan. you see hes a clown, and you dont want a clown anywhere near your team

while we're on the subject, any other coach yell and scream at his guys to get off the field after an extra point? i mean really................

you mean like in game and half time adjustments that Sparano can only dream of making? -

I think my first reaction, or thought on this matter, is he is way to animated when we make a FG. I think most/many will agree with that. Basically, I think there's a line between showing some enthusiasm and acting like a fool. Act like you've been there before.
Additionally (and not to diminish the fact that FG's count as points and help you win games), but it does seem as though he plays for FG's (in lieu of TD's)...a lot. Now, who does that fall on? Henne? Henning (bu bye BTW)? Or...Sparano? :shifty: That may be TBD, but there's an old adage...live by the FG, die by the FG. So, to answer the OP...I hope he learns to play for TD's instead of FG's, as that renders this question moot. Then, of course...show some decorum after we score. -
If TS comes out next season, with a new OC, and starts winning games with Henne at the helm...well, I for one am going to just LOVE watching some of you slink your way back into the good graces of Dolphins fandom... :)

I love all the armchair QB's, GM's, and HC's.
Most rational people would see that Sparano is a good coach. He's green, no doubt, but he's dedicated, smart, detail oriented, and passionate. All things that a GREAT coach needs. He may be lacking experience, for now, but I THINK he can be a really good coach.
I've said all along that he deserves his contract. If he turns it around, he'll get an extension. Why anyone thinks any person alive can turn around a 1-15 team, with NOBODY in 3 seasons is beyond me. TS's only problem was that he went 11-5 in his first season and then had to deal with Henning. TS was quoted as saying that he doesn't like to interfere with his OC. I think he's learned from Henning that he may need to...lol... I think he respected Henning's reputation too much and when we get a new OC things will be different.
