And who the F are you? You can sit at your computer and judge him (and all the other players on our team)for all the years he was here, most of us calling him a bust from the get go, but when he has something to say about us all of a sudden "who is he", "the nerve". You live on a one way street or what?

We judge them all the time, and if they want to judge us we can't get upset. That is a double standard. And by the way, we are MUCH more critical than they are, so yeah, I can see why the public's opinion over the years motivates him and other players.

 

Saying someone might not be the smartest person on the team, is not making some sort of bad judgement though, now is it?

Now with that said, I could care less what he said. Did not bother me one bit. He was the one obviously upset at some fan saying something that for the most part, was probably correct. He's been in the spotlight for most of his football career, and before, so he should have a hell of a lot thicker skin than he is showing. Go ahead and tell the fans off but I have news for him, it will only get worse when he lashes out at the FANS. To me he was showing his smarts or not...

 

Not disturbing at all imo. It's not their fault the Dolphins fanbase is well known for being among the most fickle around. It's good to see someone say something. Maybe, just maybe fans will take notice and actually come to games for once. I doubt he's reading this board though, probably that other board I won't name, where all the aforementioned fickle fans reside.

 

I like Jason, and I feel he was never given a fair shot until this season. That said, I have met him a few times (did business with my company) and he is not the sharpest crayon in the shed. Not the dumbest athlete I've met, but don't expect to see him on Celebrity Jeopardy any time soon.

 

Hypocrisy...you got on my case for calling someone's statement ignorant.

 

But why? Because it's only a game? Yeah I buy into that somewhat. Then again the fans of these teams pay a lot of money to follow them. Jersey's, tickets, transportation, hats, shoes, underoos, shirts, tats...i could go on and on. I won't say we pay salaries but we sure do our part to help support the teams.

It's not a player like Jason Allen's fault where he was drafted but he did hold out with his first contract so he must have felt he was as good as that slot or better. That's fine too. Even if he wasn't as good. He stayed with it and kept trying but he still kept screwing up, and showed very slow signs of developing into a solid contributor. In many cases he was just bad so it's only natural for some fans to lash out and as I recall, he was lashed out upon quite often. I'm not saying it's right or wrong but I can surely see why.

Now he looks like he is finally getting better. Good enough to be starting but he sure the heck still needs to further improve his game. I'm also sure he is working hard to do just that. I'm fine with him lashing out but to me, he really needs to shut the fans up with his play, not his mouth.

BTW, I like JA! Was a fan of him in college and I was happy when Satan picked him. I supported...well I tried to support him thru his development so this is not me lashing out at Jason Allen because of his play or what he said. I just think the fans should be able to vent to a degree. Players can lash back and even though I don't think they should, it's fine.

You guys seriously overestimate your impact on a player`s salary. You say, well = buy merchandise and tickets therefore I pay his salary. But you dont. The majprity of the nfl and team revenue comes from media rights and profit sharing. Gate receipts are a small portion and merchandise is even smaller

 

So you are saying I do not watch tv?

 

What I mean is that the revenue derives from the deals that are signed with the netwroks

eh I've gotten pissed at plenty of my customers. It happens, not a big deal. If it bothers you that much stop watching/supporting the nfl.

You listen to Sparano's locker room speech and it makes it clear. He has the team in a bunker mentallity. Enjoy it. It only works for so long.

Revenue from media rights which are valued by ratings.
Ratings come from numbers of "so called fans" watching the games on TV.

We have everything to do with how much money each and every player makes along with the profits of the owners.

If we stopped caring it would all fall apart.

You're taking the side of a guy making FIVE AND A HALF MILLION DOLLARS IN SALARY THIS SEASON ALONE, a guy who you will never meet and who will likely not even be on the team next year, a guy who is dissing the fanbase that makes everything possible for him by footing 100% of the bill for EVERYTHING - against a brother Dolphins' fan and a brother on this board.

And to the rest of you who claim that the fans don't pay for this or that in the NFL: get a ****ing clue about the way life and commerce works.

The NFL is a business which depends on the consumer - the fan - for 100% of its income.

EVERY DOLLAR THE NFL MAKES COMES FROM FAN DOLLARS, ONE WAY OR THE OTHER, ONE CHANNEL OR THE OTHER.

JA, however, can complain all he wants....I/we pay good money to watch him and the others play ball, we can complain or love them however we feel...We've all paid for that right...

 

i agree. the worst is the miami herald imo. its embarrassing sometimes to read the so called fans comments. i also think the miami beat writers cater to those types with the way they try to create drama where there shouldnt be any.

You think I should take the side of a fellow fan just because, and or justify it because the person I am defending makes $5M a year and since we are all obviously jealous about that fact it justifies anything we want?
