Parcells drafted Ole Noodle Arm and he does know the Jets playbook left and right. The Dolphin QB have not be beforming well at all in TC with Henne looking the best of the crowd. At best you get a veteran QB who can raise the level of competition and help you win some games. Pennington does have the record for most passes completed in the RedZone without throwing an INT with the potential of our OL, R & R and a possible singing of Terry Glenn with could just be a whole lot better then last year.
Just a thought, Nobody hates Penington and the stinkin JEts like me.
On a side note: PArcells brought both Bledsoe and Testaverde to Dallas while developing Romo.

Would be a huge waste of Ted Ginn if signed.
Thats all I'm going to say because I'm sure most will know why I said that.Kanye West, HULKFish, GISH and 3 others like this. -
Bears IMO.

Adam Schefter is saying that Pennington will be released.
Saying that I hope he never wears a Fins uniform.calphin likes this. -
They can't afford to trade him. Farve salary most fit and the Jets dont have the cap space to fit in Farve's salary, plus nobody will give up any compensation for him when they know the Jets will release him. The Vikings have a proven Vet behind Jackson in Gus, The Bears maybe, but they are in the runing for Simss. Walla that leaves us. Pennington brings to knowledge of a Jets playbook and has played for Parcells and Henning before.
On a side note: I know we love to call him Noodle Arm, but he beats us EVERY time, And not just with dink and dunk, with deep balls to Coles and McCareins.Seriously, if there is a QB i hate playing against, it may just be Chad Pennington. Brady is close, but Chad frustrates me most with his consistent third down completions and his red zone efficiency.gafinfan, texasPHINSfan, cnc66 and 1 other person like this. -
I think your right that they might try to get something for him. I imagine that one of the teams you mentioned might take a shot at him. Hell, maybe even KC, or Buffalo or Baltimore if he's released.
What I'm hoping is that they don't do anything for awhile so that our QBs have more time to impress our FO to the point that they don't think we need the Noodler. Yea, thats optimism. But, from what I've read on the last few days of camp, Johnny Boy has improved and is hopefully turning the corner.
STAY ON LIGHTBULB! -
Pennington had a higher ypc avg then Cleo Lemon did..
That said, man, that is taking some fruit off of the "Trust Tree".
I know we are hard up at QB at the moment, but Pennington?
If he had come in instead of McCown I'd like the move better, right now he would come in later then Trent Green did last year, but short term, "yeah" I think he would make us more competitive.
I need to go wash out my keyboard for typing that....:pity::cry:HardKoreXXX likes this. -
If they do release Chad...
I hope they cut Josh and let the young guys shoot it out. I think Chad is an upgrade to Josh. Both are vets...but Chad knows the Playbook for our week 1 chumps.
Although, I think Farve will have a very solid year for the Jest. He could have some issues come week one. We need all the help we can get...let's just be happy Farve is not 30 instead of 85 years old. -
We tried out Quincy Carter for God Sake. If you think Parcells is not calling Pennington right now, your crazy. Our best QB is a first year rookie. Beck is practicing with the third teamers and McCown throws a pick everyday. Tuna go get us Glenn and The Bionic Man.
-
Mortensen reports that the Packers traded Farve while knowing his prefered destination was Tampa. It gets better, Dinosaur Farve has never played outside of the West Coast Offense. He is not in Football shape and needs to learn a whole new playbook. This could bite the Jets in the *** big time.
-
Pennington has a career qb rating of 88.9... with a strong running game, improved line play and an eager defense, we could win 7 games at least... course, I'd rather have Beck playing this year but not a bad plan B...
-
Pennington may not have a good arm, but he's an efficient passer and not just a game-manager. I think he'd be best with the loser in the Favre competition, the Bucs. But if he came here, he's an upgrade over what we have. Besides, Ted Ginn needs to develop something to rely on other than speed, which will deteriorate with age, for the future and learning to make quick routes as a necessity is a start. :wink2:
-
How old is pennington now? 33 or so? -
I'd like to see Beck get a shot, but Pennington would be a game ready Qb who is not 37+ and who is not coming off of a major injury and who knows the offense.
Qb's like that do not come along every offseason, we may be forced to take "yes" as an answer to Chad Pennington.. -
Pennington is 2 years removed from his shoulder hot glue rebuild?
I ask because if he put some games on his body since the rebuild, we may have to call it a "success".... -
What's the point though? We're rebuilding and we'll be like this for a few years so what difference does 2008 make? I still look at our roster without too much glee, knowing that it's short everywhere outside of the front lines (in the front lines though I like what we have, it's almost where it needs to be).
That 1,2,2,3 combo will put us into the position of where we will want 32 year olds, etc... -
Parcells did not rebuild the Cowboys, what makes you think he is gonna rebuild here. Ferguson, Akin, Holliday and Ricky. Add Pennigton and Glenn and those are your Vets. The rest are young kid willing to play their hearts out.
-
Harsh necessity, and the newness of my team, force me to do such things.. -
A inexperienced QB does not help that process along very much, they are learning to. -
Wrong he did rebuild the Cowboys, but he brings veterans he thinks can contribute heavily. I can't see Pennington helping the growth of Henne and Beck. Ferguson was a very short-term solution that Saban would have done, which I always support. Holliday was already here why even bring that up. Ricky was brought in at a basement price.
He traded Jason Taylor, he got rid of Zach Thomas. He's rebuilt in earnest by turning over 50% of the roster.SuncoastFinsFan likes this. -
If he can take it mentally, I'd rather have Henne, his OL, Hagan, Ginn Jr. and Ronnie be mediocre together and grow together than the "grooming" process that a veteran QB in fact does not provide.

Tannenbaum just confirmed Pennington will be traded or released on Thursday... LMAO... way to lose any trade leverage you may have had, probably not much, but I find it funny nonetheless... J-E-T-S JUST.. END.. THE.. SAGA...
-
I can't agree with what we have now we are not much better then last year. You got Ronnie & Ricky and a young solid OL. You have Hagan, Ginn & Wilford and Fasano. Who is gonna get these guys the ball. Henne is a rookie QB and has locked the best our of three QBs two of those veterans. Beck is practicing with the third teamers, you have McCown throwing INTs everyday. If we could sign Pennington and have him compete for the starting position. we could maybe raise the competition and have someone to groom your QBs. Pennington is a very smart QB so I have no problem with him grooming Henne. The guy has a QB rating of 88.9. Why not give the guy a look. Hello, you just tried out Quincy Carter.
-
We have cap room. -
He is better than Quincy Carter... -
We dont need another Chad. The one we drafted is better by far.
-
Why give up a pick the guy is gonna be released tommorrow. Clemens, Ainge and Ratliff will take the snaps in their Preseason game.
-
-
That would put him far behind the curve especially if he came in September.
The Jets could literally hold Pennington hostage if they wanted to Finatic. -
-
I actually don't think they improved as much as some might say.
I'm starting to turn a little on the idea of signing Pennington as we speak.
He always produces, year after year after year. He'd make Ginn Jr. a happy man and once Henne improves he'll get the job by year three. -
And P13, if they are going to cut him anyway, it would make little difference if they traded him in the division.
