Does TO signing mean Adalius Thomas will sign?

Well, I'd agree with Brian Biggane on the perceived need for a AD as a Veteran presence at OLB, the problem is I also think Marques Douglas got the contract that would have landed Adalius Thomas.

MD was signed to a 2 million per yr contract, or what was offered Jason Taylor during last season, to sign AD would require a budgetary modification that I haven't seen this Front Office make.

Typically, one player is removed, their contract signs another player, or defrays the cost, I suspect Q would be on the Bubble if AD was signed, but Q makes slightly over 1 million per season and AD coming in for a 3.9 million dollar paycut to play for the Vet minimum in a backup and Special Teams role seems highly unlikely.

Slightly over 2 million per yr I could see it, but there are other questions there as well such as Attitude, Remaining Talent etc.

I had my hand up Biggane's backside like a puppet Pandarilla.

TBH, I'm kinda hyped over Ikaika Alama Francis, he is as much a freakish athlete as AD used to be and imho Nolan will find uses for him.

Dude had a 35 inch vertical leap at 285 pds, best of anyone at the 07 Combine over 270.

Just don't see it happening.Just got rid of Porter and Jason. What I mean by got rid of is their age ,not potential or past glory.
Don't want to see anything like another Seau signing happening again either.

With that comment the author loses me. Since when was TO an important free agent?

    No one wanted him.

SOLB we have Misi and Moses, WOLB we have Wake, Anderson & McCoy. I don't see any room for A.D.. IMO we should be developing our young guys and seeing what we have with them, not digging through the trash heap for washed up vets.

Thanks Bro, when you fish around in the bottom of the roster, you sometimes hook old tennis shoes (Tsoumpas) and sometimes you git a nibble (I Alama Francis).

IFrancis is wildly athletic, as in a 35 inch Vertical leap at 285 pds.

I actually wouldn't mind Thomas for depth purposes only. Charlie Anderson and Quentin Moses aren't exactly all world... That being said, TO signing has literally nothing to do with Adalius Thomas.

Well, I'm not calling it, but with White and Oglesby not practicing today, it would not surprise me if a Vet OLB was signed and unless we take a shot at a Leonard Little or Ogunlaye, AThomas makes the most sense as he also knows Nolan's Defense.

Camps have opened, unless he wishes to wait for an injury, he is out of the NFL, it does not get more bleak than that for Thomas.

As for Sparano Island resident, Ikaika Alama Francis:

Not sure about the connection here. One free agent's actions really has no correlation with another's. This is like saying that TO landed in Cincy because Marques Douglas landed in Miami. There's zero relation there.

Methinks it may be more productive to mention this to a tree "but" :

This time frame, right before Traning Camp opens, or shortly thereafter the homeless but still functional veterans land on teams looking to plug holes or just for camp bodies, Douglas, Grant, TO, all found homes the Vets who haven't signed yet due to contract demands are faced with a stark choice, sign for cheap, or possibly be completely out of the NFL.

Think of it as musical chairs, there are just a scant few seats left and the teacher is reaching for "pause" on the CD player..

We were never in the market for Owens, and we appear to not be in the market for Thomas.

Eh, remains to be seen, at least one roster spot may open up surprisingly quickly, we've stockpiled DE/DT types with Vets, that leaves either Safety, or OLB.

And the player, say TO, doesn't matter, the time frame, does matter, the choice is sign now for cheap, or risk being out of the league.

When Thomas was first waived, it was mentioned he wanted Joey Porter/AZ money, 5 million bonus, 3 yr deal, that was months ago, he may have lowered his asking price by now simply due to receiving no interest at that price tag.

Barring injury, I think we're stocked with the players we want.

Asked Omark about how Ikaika looked at OLB:

Could be a case of Nolan preferring to develop the "next" Adalius Thomas rather than signing the admittedly less physically gifted, 33 yr old AD.

Ikaika is wildly athletic, maybe a Roth type conversion can work out for him?

If not, ST has very few 6-5' 270 pd men on it running down field to cover kicks..

I'm not so sure about that Des, not on the Defensive side of the ball, if white is moved, and Oglesby waived, chances are good newbies are most likely to go on the Defensive side of the ball.

Would not mind O-Gun in the fold..at least to compete anyway.

Again, I don't think we're interested in Thomas. Could be a price issue, could be a youth movement issue, could be both. Now, if an injury occurs, then we might be willing to give him a little more money than we otherwise would have.

But I don't see what Terrell Owens has to do with Adalius Thomas.

I'd doubt they would pay extra, they have a sort of flat, 1.5 to 2.1 million dollar flat rate for Vets in their mid 30's.

The other factor is, Nolan and Sheridan have to see what they have already on the roster, if they are happy with it, no need for Thomas, if not, sign him cheaply AFTER they have made a decision on the current crop of OLB's.
