I just saw one of my dogs throw up. Not sure why. Any ideas as to why she would be throwing up? Im hoping its because shes eating something shes not supposed to. But I wanted to see if anyone had any experience with this.

It's what they do when they eat something out of the ordinary.

How long has she been throwing up?

You can give Pepto to dogs. How big is she?

shes bigger then a regular small dog. I would say smaller then a medium sized dog. I have noticed puddles of what seems to be throw up on the porch for about a couple of months now. 6-8 months? She still seems energetic though, but my neighbor said she seems smaller. But like I said I have seen the puddles for a bit.

my dog pukes randomly about once a week, sometimes more. he'll just puke bile for no reason some mornings. its weird, but not really an issue at all, according to the vets, if that helps at all. i would take her to the vet just incase. or at least tell the vet when you take her for her yearly exam in a few months.

    Couple of more questions then:

    - Can you see her ribs and yet have a distended belly?
    - Does her belly feel hard?
If yes to either or both, she probably has worms. Easily gotten rid of.

    - Is she still on puppy food? Can or dry?
Often puppies actually have an easier time digesting kibble than can food, oddly enough. You could try changing her food. Nutro has excellent puppy and adult Sensitive Stomach food and treats. The treats have actually curbed excessive puking in one of my dogs.

    - Is the puke, bile? If so, do you have a cat and does she have access to the litter box or another dog?
Dogs who eat other animal waste, obviously have bile looking puke. If so, restrict her access to feces.

her belly looks fine and feels fine to me. it doesnt feel too hard all though when she rolls over it feels a little bit hard.

no shes on all dry dog food. has been for quite some time. she is about 5 years old.

i don't have a cat. I think the puke is bile as what I have seen on the porch there seems to be no chunks. Speaking of feces though I have seen her sniffing around it,their feces, and when I go out to clean it I have noticed her around it. I know as puppies both of them ate their own ****, so Im wondering if she started again and if that could be causing it.

Bro I have three dogs. From 10 years to two. they eat the grass to coat there stomachs. My dogs have thrown up after eating the grass. I didn't use any fertilizers at all. If it is every now and again you should be fine, but if it is constant on a regular basis take your dog to the vet.:wink2:

Sounds like a dog eating feces.
(but I really don't know what that sounds like)

Do they stay mostly outside, Lucky?

If you have racoons or other wild animals and your dogs eat their droppings that could be making them sick.

Whatever it might be, you'd do well to rule out the dark side of the spectrum by having them checked out at the vet; a simple exam and bloodwork should be enough.

If that shows any cause for concern you can go from there.

    Hope it's nothing, bro.

Then make sure she's wormed and get her those Nutro dog treats. They sensitive stomach or something like that and the box is a light greenish blue. Both PetSmart & PetCo carry them.
