They just did a piece on the NFL Power Rankins as part of NFL Live with Trey Wingo and Golic. They had Miami listed as the 11th best team in the NFL.....I think the Pats were 9th? I believe the Jets are in the top 8, but they haven't shown those teams yet. Wingo asked Golic which team is ranked a little too high, and he said, "The Miami Dolphins at #11, as we don't know if Henne is a top QB yet." Screw him......we don't know if your Weight Watchers is working for you either Golic.

Golic is 100% correct. Until henne shows the improvement that we all think he will, there's zero reason to rank us anywhere near #10.

There are a lotta good variables {too many to list} going into the grooming and success of Chad Henne, put that together with the best arm in the game?, I like his chances..

I love all the attention given to the Jets, give the Jets the spotlight, get there fans hopes as high as possible, raise your expectations to super bowls and a new dynasty. So come week three when we kick the living $#!+ out of them the fans can fall into a deep depression and all the biased pundits can try to pry a foot out of their mouth's.

This tells you how accurate preseason rankings are:

If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we'd all have a merry Christmas indeed. All this stuff means squat, that is why they actually play the games.
But at this point in the dog days of Summer, we'll take any news we can get, good, bad, or indifferent. Thanks! -
Boy these off-season Titles are silly.

I agree. The point Golic made is completely valid and Henne truly is an unknown at this time. That doesn't mean he won't have the breakout year that many of us think he will, but what he said makes a lot of sense. If this team is going anywhere this season, it'll be on Henne's shoulders because the D probably won't hold up thruout the playoffs.
In the same breath, it should also apply to the jests. While they are certainly a better D team than ours is, they also are operating under the assumption that Sanchez will play like the Sanchez of the first 10 games, not the Sanchez of the last 9-10 games (including and especially the playoff games). -
I love how they say "give to much respect to". the dolphins should be renamed the Miami dangerfields. Even if the fins were to win the Sb the year after on the power rankings we would still be in the teens :headwall:. These guys are not journalists or commentators, they are retired NFL players who are tiring to relive their glory days, biased as can be, and wrong as well. The only thing the fins can do is play and all we can do is rub everyone's face in it when the fins win.

There may be some truth behind Golic's words, but those words still come from a world-class boob.

11th best team?
12 get into the playoffs, and once you're in the playoffs - anything can happen.

as true today as yesterday, be it as it may...
the pundits can predict or say anything they'd like
our detractors can spew forth whatever prediction
but there will be a price for swimming w/the Dolphins in 2010
by the time they figure out that Flipper is a KillerWhale
it will be too late, the brutality of the Orca will prevail

Heck i wish they would rank us 32nd. This team loves being the underdog.... we lost games last year becuase even Henne admitted we overlooked a few teams. We have to play with a chip on our shoulder! I loved 08 for that one reason! There were haters then they were all kissing our butts at the end of the season...then ed reed had 4 interceptions. LOL

The D is in a rebuilding mode since we don't know squat about who our FS, OLBs or one of the ILBs will be. Crowder has obvious weaknesses in pass coverage and will he be healthy enough. A Lis Franc is a tough injury to come back from. Was Dansby an upgrade for Ayodele (which you or I could probably have qualified there) or is he to take Crowder's spot and Crowder moves over ?? We don't know. Who are our OLBs going to be ?? A rookie, who might be very, very good (Misi) but we don't know yet. A seven year journeyman veteran who hasn't been able to wrest a starting role for 3 yrs here in Anderson ?? An ex-Canadian football DE who excels at rushing the passer, but arguably has really only one move and his speed and has no clue in the run stopping or the pass coverage parts of his responsibilities ?? Then who is going to fill in for Fergy ?? A converted DE in Starks or the yet unknown mountain of a man in Soliai ?? Is Merling going to actually progress from last season or remain stagnant ?? This D has issues that have to be resolved and until the bullets fly, we just don't know for sure.
The offense will have to carry the team this coming year. Marshall is a great addition, but who is the speed guy on the outside to counter him ?? Maybe Hartline, but he certainly doesn't have elite speed. Is Fasano going to wake up out of the fog he was in last season ?? Who's the second TE ?? Are Brown and Cobbs going to be as effective as needed coming back from their injuries. Is this years' version of the revamped interior OL going to finally be the one that is right ?? Really, name our guards ??

We were 7-9 last year. I thought it was generous. We could be better but not until we at least show it.

As far as the comment about us potentially being the third best team in our division, I also believe it to be a fair comment. Until we prove otherwise, I actually think we are. That's not to say we aren't a strong team, but we are in a tough division. It reminds me a bit of the AL east in baseball. For a good part of the season, the ESPN power rankings had the Yankees, Red Sox and Rays 1,2, and 3. That wasn't just a ranking of the AL East but of all of major league baseball. Face it, we are in a division with some talent. The difference is that I think we realize that the difference between 1 and 3 in our division is much closer then some of the analysts think. I guess we shall see in a couple of months. I can't wait!Larryfinfan likes this. -

He better be consistent and say the Jets are too high for the same reason. -
But then again ESPN hates anything Dolphins, or so I've read over the years.
