And they never will... If Tua made the play where he scrambled rolled out.. bought more time... avoided a sack and delivered a dart to a wide open receiver down the field with any consistency... Then we would be in first place and this conversation would not be happening. But that is not the case now is it?
That's pretty high expectations seeing as 3rd and 10+ is converted at roughly a 20% clip in the NFL. Not to mention this was 3rd and 19 escaping a free rusher and rolling away from your strong side. And yes, "they" were mentioning Tua taking dumb sacks in the game thread but after a win I think "they" will focus on the game winning plays made in the 4th quarter by Tua.
Okay.... But how many times did he NOT make it out of the pocket and the result was a sack, or a incomplete pass or a dump off for a loss? Looking up the 6 times he completed a pass where he was not in between the tackle boxes is one thing. As someone else said last night... We need context. (O; those 6 times as opposed to what? There were a significant number of times where Tua was caught in the middle of the field immobile and neutralized.
3rd and 10 is one thing... Not all out of pocket passes will be 3rd and 10... So that one play deserves your applause.. but it does not answer other questions.
It’s unrealistic expectations. Either Tua is Mahomes or he sucks to these people. The Dolphins OL was bad in both pass pro and run blocking last night. Tua made chicken salad out of chicken sh!t. Yes, he hung on to the ball too long at times, took some bad sacks, he has recently been getting better at that, but his 90 passer rating last night was an average performance (with a few fantastic plays thrown in).
And all joking aside... I think it is fair to look at failed plays also when you take an after the game stat like 6 passes completed out of the pocket... 6 passes out of how many offencive snaps?
A prime time game win that’s a nice change. D showed up after it got some important pieces back and won us the game, hopefully the O will step up and start to carry the team more then it has this season so far.
Yeah... friends were sending me memes yesterday about Tua being 0-5 in primetime games. So we were due.
The D played well. The win was on them. They were killing Stafford. The O was kind of meh. They did enough, but not very impressive. Regarding Tua, this did not move the needle much for me. I was not very impressed. He made some good throws. He still makes terrible decisions and puts his body at risk. He made his share of the typical bonehead plays. He took avoidable sacks and still had problems with ball security. He fumbled one. He held onto the ball too long. On that one pick he threw, aside from idiotically trying to make that tackle, the pick was just bad. Terrible decision. He refuses to accept his limitations and even if he did, is this what we really want in a franchise QB? Do you really see a QB who can take us on a deep playoff run, much less a Superbowl? Unfortunately, I still think we need to start over.
An that is what I think some of us have a problem with with the "The team sucks" crowd. Why wasn't he perfect? Mahomes is perfect, but then they are shown the actual facts and it's still "but he's not perfect". Sometimes they just need t ogive it a rest and enjoy a win for a change instead of acting like the team lost.
Just imagine what our blitz would look like if chubb was healthy… next season with chop getting an offseason to get stronger, the defense is going to be scary for opponents to try to block the blitz..
Little early for that but I‘m happy he‘s pointing in the right direction and it seems like he ain’t no Dion Jordan.
Its not just a Tua stat, after yesterday we are 3-8 on primetime games under Mcdaniels.. and we are way below .500 the last two decades on mnf.. its so bad that i can remember the wins.. like the chad henne mnf against the jets.. and the aj feely win against the patriots.. we have lost two against the pathetic titans recently..
Yeah, that happens when you get sudden middle pressure. Look at the sacks. What was Tua supposed to do in any of them? There weren't lanes to scramble, throwaways are grounding in pocket, or likely picks. Brady would famously just give up and drop to avoid the hit or turn over. Tua tries to make plays and scramble out the back. It works sometimes, others it doesn't. He isn't the fastest. I wish he would have better ball security if he is going to try to make a play, but overall this seems like unjustified criticism. Tua is not a great scrambler, but he is good enough to make a play. His play is more Brady than Mahomes.
Im taking best guard or tackle available in next years draft.. i said it last week, we always have these games where the offensive line looks strong and then we collapse.. we really out there with some mediocre linemen blocking tua.. and we cant rely on armstead…
Depending on where we pick, if it's high enough and he's there, I'm taking Cam Ward. When Tua AGAIN put himself in danger last night I thought he was going to get hurt. Not many QB's throw their bodies into a defender the way he did last night. He just can't help himself. I love the guy and think he's more than capable of leading a good/healthy team to the SB, but not if he keeps playing so risky and getting hurt.
We are not two worlds apart here... Tua can scramble a little... But it is not something he should ever rely on. There were a few instances where he turned into the oncoming pressure... Last night in the game thread I think it was exhaulted that suggested they have more planned roll outs... To get him outside the pocket and on that I would agree... Change it up a little to keep defences honest... And not rely on Tua pulling something out of his backside.
Next season.... Ah yes. Tomorrow, Tomorrow, Tomorrow We are suffering the slings and arrows unfortunately.
I went back and looked at the memes I got sent... It was 0-5 in Tua's last 5 prime time games... I will post the meme here for you to see.
It was commented on for being totally wrong information. Nobody cares about your "memes" that you and your buddies were sending each other that you obviously couldn't even read correctly. It wasn't even a meme it was just a post on X.
Carrying on from the discussion concerning Tua and the sacks… Tua was under constant pressure all night. The interior line failed miserably in providing a pocket for Tua to stand straight up in and if Tua tried to scramble left or right, he was met with a DE rushing to edge on the tackles. There were only a handful of times there were lanes for Tua to scramble up into and deliver the ball downfield. That’s not an opinion, that’s a straight up fact. The line played so poorly last night that it couldn’t run block either. The Dolphins had only 67 yards rushing last night versus the 150 or so last week. Our longest run for the night was Washington’s end around for 22 and a touchdown. Thank God for his speed because the line surely wasn’t going to provide any blocking. Dan said the first thing he’s doing for the draft is select Cam Wars if available. The first thing I’m doing is kicking Chris Grier off of the planet! Then I’m drafting the biggest strongest quickest corn fed farm boys of offensive linemen I can get, focusing on guards and a true center. If we could just get a line worth a damn, everything else will fall into place.
Honestly what the hell is the difference? Either way it was copied and sent to me via text message... Twitter... Meme... instagram... No real difference.... not even worth mentioning.
Don’t bet me wrong, Grier being gone is a no brainer. However, a fantastic oline won’t help if Tua doesn’t stop putting himself in harms way. Again, he’s good enough to win a SB, an oline that can give him more than 2 seconds to throw and that can run block against a good DL would also be great, but not if Tua keeps playing crazy.
