It’s hard to imagine the Dolphins carrying more than four tailbacks coming out of the exhibition season. When factoring in all of Cobbs’ special teams and Wildcat roles, it appears Hilliard, Sheets and Davis are battling it out for the final tailback spot on the 53-man roster. Sheets and Davis have practice squad eligibility.
WR (10) - Greg Camarillo, Davon Bess, Ryan Grice-Mullen (CFL Import), Taurus Johnson, Marlon Moore (undrafted rookie)
WR – Brandon Marshall (injured), Brian Hartline, Patrick Turner (injured), Julius Pruitt, Roberto Wallace (undrafted rookie)
Marshall appears on pace to be cleared medically to participate in training camp. Camarillo, Hartline and Bess are battling to become the receiver who starts opposite Marshall, who will be moved around consistently. All three bring something different to the table. Coach Tony Sparano said the best player will be on the field, but all of the front line guys will get opportunities. The Dolphins will likely keep five receivers on the 53-man roster, and two on the practice squad.
TE (4) – Anthony Fasano, Joey Haynos, Kory Sperry, John Nalbone
Fasano is hoping he has a year that resembles his 2008 season, when he scored seven touchdowns, more so than his disappointing 2009 campaign. He’s healthy, and playing for a contract, so the odds are in his favor. Haynos, Sperry and Nalbone are all battling to become the second tight end. Sperry and Nalbone are both eligible for the practice squad.
