Thank god that didn't happen. I'm actually shocked that Parcells would even consider it seeing that Shockey made a derogatory comment about him a few years ago.

Interesting. To be honest I wouldn't have been opposed necessarily. Shockey is a talented player, and has a passion for the game. Only negative is his health, which is a little exaggerated IMO

Shockey is a talented TE and would definitely be an upgrade over anything we currently have on this roster. And yes a very good TE is important to a young QB and can become his safety net, but this is Henning's offense and I think I read here that TE isn't as important in his offense as we all thought.

Im glad we got the deal with did for the 2nd and 6th instead of Shockey. Shockey is going to be a great fit in NO though i think.
-
Perhaps not, but then again, it'd be no different than having JT and Parcells probably thought it's a wash anyways until the Washington situation came up. If the Skins had no intention of getting a DE due to injury, I think a Shockey trade would've been the better one out there. -
He's always had that UM thug mentality. Worst thing would be to bring him back to Miami.
He is talented, but Miami is better off without him. I think the Saints got a great player though. I'd have taken him if the Phins didn't play in Miami.Bpk likes this. -

I'm glad that didn't happen. Shockey is just a player I don't trust. He's obviously a physical talent but I don't trust him to not be injured or not be in trouble or to make that block or that third down catch. Now this is just my perception and not necessarily accurate, but that's the feeling I get watching him.

Parcells is building a team, not the boy scouts, I'm sure he would have taken Shockey. And then, Shockey would the one who would feel weird, having to work for the guy he derided. -
I'm not trying to hate on UM. But face it they've produced more than their fare share of players who need or have had serious criminal issues, or have been unhealthy distractions to their teams. Kellen Winslow, Jeremy Shockey, Sean Taylor, Warren Sapp, Ray Lewis, are just those who got drafted in the 1st round. -
Absolutely. This is th guy who was so supportive of his team in the playoffs that he didn't bother being in town for much of the week before the Superbow, nor did he care to be on the sidelines with them. He obviously was not close to them. What sort of teammate doesn't want to be with his teammates during the biggest game of their lives to support them? A crappy one, that's what sort.
But who can blame him? There were only a cohesive enough team to have Superbowl Championship caliber chemistry... which, by the way, seemed to gel AFTER Shockey was injured and out of the picture.
Funny how REMOVING Tiki and Shockey from that locker room = a Superbowl Championship.
Jeremy Shockey a good guy? Maybe as a drinking buddy, but he seems like a giant arse to me and more an obstacle to team success than a catalyst of it.like2god likes this. -
I am definitely glad we got the draft picks instead

we can draft someone better than shockey with the picks we got.

The fact of the matter is UF has a lot more criminals than Miami.
Anyone remember the UF players, who decided to get drunk, take some AK47s in their SUV, and go shoot some apartments for fun?
The reality is that there are arrogant and excitable players from every school. It may appear more prevalent in the NFL, but only because there are so many Hurricanes in the NFL. UM gets a thug rep because its a small school. ESPN can bash UM all it wants, and they aren't losing many casual fans. Also, winning 5 championships in the past 25 years will bring its fair share of detractors.Last edited: Jul 22, 2008 -
