He's right about the crying need for a playmaker at WR. Looks like this regime plans on ignoring it for another season.

Wide Receiver is a need but it pales in comparison to our needs at Free Safety, OLB and NT...well maybe equal to nose tackle. This team collapsed last season due to our defensive play. Our offense, especially with Henne playing, put up sufficient points to win - and this was often without Ronnie Brown. New England won three Super Bowls without a true impact number one receiver because there defense was among the best in the league.

Maybe Jacksonville will take him at 10. -
That was a very good read on the team except saying taylor is a defensive end.I really think without a threat on the outside we will be in third place this year again.Bill needs to realize it is not 1986 and build for the style of football that is played in todays nfl.
Most wrs take about 3 years to become a #1.The question is does this regime have 3 years to develop somebody because I do not think that player is on the roster now.
Take a chance and trade our #2 and a player for marshall then draft a olbs in the first round and we are contenders. -
We need a #1 WR, but also need 2 x OLB's, a FS, TE and a NT. My bet is still that we take an OLB with our first pick. We can still pick up a decent FS with our second or third pick, and then go from there. I guess it comes down to whether you prefer defense or Offense as to where guys will go with the first pick but that is my opinion.

Miami was 15th in total points scored; 27th in Passing TDs, and tied for 1st in Rushing TD with Baltimore. Obviously an offense dominated by the rush, in a passing league. Keep in mind Baltimore felt the need to go after a top WR while having a great run game and very good defense
Miami was 20th in Passing Yards, 24th in average yards per reception, 31st in plays over 20 yards, and 27th for plays over 40 yards.
Without getting better with our passing attack we will remain mediocre in scoring points, which is sufficient enough, well...to keep us mediocre.
You point to the Patriots yet you fail to mention how they had one of the best QBs in the history of the game at the helm, along with a stacked O-Line, and very good role players. The Patriots won for more reasons than just good defense.texanphinatic and Whitedolphin54 like this. -
We don't need two OLBs. I don't see that at all. They'll probably keep Anderson, Moses, Wake, bring back Taylor, and a STer in Walden. One more is all they need.

No that's fair to be sure, I just don't think they plan on two selections.
Right now the team's needs include- SOLB, backup ILB, FS, WR, 3rd RB, NT and TE.
If they can find a way to address three more before the start of the draft that would be excellent. -

I don't think they'll even draft a FS. I think they'll start one of Clemons/Culver.

I like your attitude about Henne, and I am a big Henne guy, but to compare the career paths is a hard thing to do.
As I said, I agree we need to get better on defense, but I fully disagree that our WRs didn't hurt our chances to win.
Defensive failure is easy to quantify and point out. WRs not getting open and not getting separation, and even not being able to design many offense schemes that allows from more deep shots to spread the field, are things that you can't just point to like getting scored on. But in parallel to the defensive failures - these offensive woes went on almost every game.
So I strongly disagree with our offense being anywhere near that of championship caliber, or one that is ready to make a strong run. What my frustration is (along with others) if you add a top WR and a stronger receiving TE, then we will be. -
Wild guess:
1- Derrick Morgan
2 (trade down)- Taylor Price
3- Jimmy Graham
4- Joe McKnight
They'll probably draft a couple of NTs to compete in the late draft and call it a day. It's too bad they haven't made a couple more moves to add selections. Perhaps they trade Pennington to Pittsburgh soon. -
Really nothing we didnt know....
Not sure why he thought JT was a DE anymore?
Our Wr's suck, not exactly breaking news. -

We had no problem moving the ball last year, we tied the Colts for first with a 49% 3rd down ratio.
Our main problem was stopping the other team when we had to and giving up big plays. A number of games that we lost we were winning them but then our defense failed.
Add the problem with Henne throwing interceptions when we were trying to play catch up.
So let's plug up our holes on defense in the draft (good start with signing Dansby) and getting a good TE.
Then let's allow Henne to work his first off season and preseason as a starter with our young WR corp. And we need to get our running backs back.
