This is a player I really liked in Cinci but did not see a clear role for him in Miami, maybe SOLB:

He lost his role to Rey Mualaga in Cinci, he is a Miami native and played in the CFL at a very young age.

He was and a above average one, he played the SLB in the 4-3 so sacks were not his game, but he had almost 100 tackles in 15 games, not bad for a SLB.

How old is he? If he was a servicable starter for the bungles, I would take him for depth. Plus, you can never have too many linebackers :)

27, he played in the CFL when he was 20 or so, for a youngish guy he has a pile of experience.
Imho he would make a good Strongside Linebacker for Mike Nolans defense. -

He was a starter in 08 and had 96 tackles, that was his first and only yr as a starter, they brought in Rey M afterwards and he moved to depth.
Interesting player, if his leg is healed, and it should be he is worth a look imho.
He also led the Bengals in ST tackles, and he led them in Forced Fumbles in 2008, all in all he sounds like a solid player, could be a starter, could be a ST guy.

Well, if we sign him, imho he is better than just ST, he could start at SOLB, maybe at ILB depending on injuries he would be a sort of OLB/ILB depth at worse.

Interesting thing about Rashad Jeanty, he won 2 Grey Cups in the CFL and one rare AFC North title with the Bengals, I like having players like that on a team, just winners. -

I like him as an ILB. Might be able to backup Crowder. Definitely one of the guys I hoped we tried to sign considering we don't have to give up anything for him. I also remember Saban trying to sign him back in 06.

Hmm? The fact that he isn't an established pass rusher and would probably be basically a 'set the edge' 2 down SOLB makes me think that they are thinking that the draft is deeper at WOLB and may be looking at the option of drafting a starting WOLB to build the defense around and moving/keeping Wake as the 3rd down blitzing SOLB specialist behind a Matt Roth type in Jeanty.
In this scenario, JT gets signed to either backup the new starting WOLB or start until the WOLB is ready to handle all the duties of a full-time WOLB.
Though, I hope that Wake is going to be the full-time WOLB with JT backing him up and we draft a starting 3 down SOLB instead. But one may not be available later on in the draft. This should also be pointing a sign to how they feel about Merling's potential as the starting SOLB...not too confident, I'd say. Unless, they are looking for a guy for insurance policy, should Merling be tried there and not work out.
But they could be looking for a Jeanty/Merling type to start/play 2 downs and have JT as the blitzing 3rd down SOLB/backup WOLB for Wake.
Definitely they are looking to expand their options come draft day. Especially with the swing and miss on Rolle and Clark and the unwillingness to give up the #12 for Bethea. -

In my opinion having seen a lot of Bengals games over the years, unfortunately, I just dont' see Jeanty being talented enough to start at OLB for us over Cameron Wake and whomever we draft (could be any number of players from Morgan, Griffin, Graham, Worilds, Cunningham, Sapp, etc.)
However, given that he did play the SLB spot for Cincinnati pretty well in 2008, often times having to re-route TE's off the line and cover them downfield, by all means if he can play that reserve ILB spot behind Dansby and Crowder I'm all for it. Jeanty is good enough on special teams, and will come cheaply enough to make me forget Reggie Torbor. -
