I'm still sore on Josh Heupel, he never got a fare shot.

 

Ditto, would love to see him make it as a starter.

 

Not many times a 30 year old QB comes out of the ashes to make himself into a starting QB - good for him if he does it. However, when Pennington became available, Parcells & Ireland had to pull the trigger on it simply based on what we'd known about John Beck, Chad Henne, and Josh McCown at the time.

 

Ah, the HOFer we let go.

 

Good for him if he gets the starting job there but really the preseason hasn't even started so who knows whether or not this is just nonsense put out there to cover up the poor handling of the McNabb experiment. There aren't too many teams that would draft a guy in the 2nd round then just keep him around for 4 years or so on the bench to give him a shot down the road. He didn't play well here, I wish him the best, he seemed like a decent guy, but his play here deservedly got him cut.

 

Didn't necessarily mean body-wise. He's been in the league what, 4 years, to my knowledge hasn't started a game since his time in Miami in 2007. What makes him suddenly "get it" all of the sudden? Kurt Warner is about the only guy I can think of that came into the NFL as an older prospect and really took off, but that still took a Trent Green injury and the "Greatest Show on Turf". More power to him if he is the starter.

 

When Beck plays and can handle a snap as a starting QB then we will know a little more.
I think he will be a failure again.

 

I think fellas are smoking moldy green crack if they really think John Beck is going to somehow emerge in DC.

I like a good Rocky story as much as the next guy, but come on, it is not as if Beck was toiling away in the CFL or UFL or AFL, they man hasn't played in this long for a reason.

 

TBH I just have the feeling that Shanny is blowing smoke up Beck's orifice trying to pump up his confidence, like Sparano did with Shawn Murphy a couple of yrs ago when he made him the "starting" RG for OTA's, but at the end of it Murph was waived.

I like Beck, to me he would have been a perfect Qb for the Walsh 49er teams, #3 developmental guy in the WCO, but at the end of it all imho Shanny wants to see what Beck can do mentally if he is stroked and told he is the #1 guy and all of that stuff, as Beck's tools were fine, good arm, good feet, it was always above the neck with him.

 

Skins are in rebuilding mode jim1, they had to accumulate picks over certain players which is why they were selling cheaply so to speak imo.

 

The success or failure of Beck has no bearing on the conclusion that this franchise was a complete disaster when it comes to talent evaluation during the 00s.

 

Wow , Washinton is gonna be really bad this year.

 

I wish that cat success; he's a stand up guy. Shame he's already 30. Well, better late than never I guess.
