Can't a player file a grievance toward a team reagarding an injury settlement, or am I wrong on this?
What grievances?unluckyluciano likes this. -

Its getting comical.Ohio Fanatic likes this. -
FWIW, Sage Rosenfels twitter page tells an interesting story. Sounds a lot like sour grapes in old pasty leg's defense, but still it's just one more player coming out against a GM who is not popular with players on his team or the NFL in general.

Okay, Sage got his feelings hurt. This is a singular incident, and he had little time with the team under Ireland. The team comes first. Maybe Ireland seemed prickish during that short stint? Hey, I meet people daily who I dislike from the gun, then they turn out okay. Nothing here, IMO. Sage may be just trying to get his hands in the cookie jar.....

Look...I don't think anyone is gonna weep of Ireland gets fired.
It still doesn't change the fact that I think what Martin and his party are doing is pretty sorry. -
The most relevant revelations in Sage Rosenfels story:
1. Comparing the Dolphins' position on that issue with the Giants
2. Him saying that it took one hour in the locker room of talking to other players to realize everyone hates Ireland
3. Him saying that he's played for five teams and nine different GMs, and he takes no issue with eight of those GMsASOT, Rhody Phins Fan, Finrunner and 2 others like this. -
Ireland is disliked by many if not most players. That's my opinion. I also find his personality, as I perecieve it, to be unlikeable.
Insurance industry studies on which doctors get sued the most, by the way, strongly show it has nothing to do with which doctors are most negligent
or worst at their job.
The driving factor in most lawsuits was how LIKEABLE (or unlikeable) the doctor is.
Think about that as we lead the league in grievances, have a probable Jon Martin lawsuit headed our way, and all these players say they dislike Ireland.ASOT, MonstBlitz and Boik14 like this. -
I have no problem with GMs, coaches, etc., being hard-asses as long as the decisions are made with the best interests of an organization. Obviously, those decisions can and will be scrutinized later, but if these decisions were in the best interest of the organization at the time of that made decision, I see no problem in that.
I am not defending Ireland, but I can certainly see why he asked Dez Bryant if his mother was a prostitute ESPECIALLY after Bryant broached the subject earlier in the interview when he (Bryant) suggested his father didn't necessarily "pimp out" his mother. -

Maybe Ireland is just one of those guys? I think he may have learned a little too much from Parcells..... -
Non issue if we are winning. Well, really small issue if we are winning.
In terms of Martin suing, I'll be interested to see how that plays out. Not sure what he can do since he's a part of the NFLPA.Colmax likes this. -
Regardless of his position on Ireland, why come out with this now? Why hold this resentment for all of these years? It just seems agenda-based and flaky to me. Good that he is giving light into this situation, but why the take now? Ireland has had prior hiccups before this saga to chime in on. It just seems like he's holding onto a grudge.
*EDIT* Or maybe Sage has chimed in on Ireland in the past? I just do not follow him... -
You say it's common. Sage Rosenfels is specifically saying Ireland's attitude is uncommon.

I dont see really.....how with the state of our Oline....all of this...all of the circus surrounding Irelands past...
I think the best thing for everyone concerned and to a degree even Ireland himself..is just to cut ties with him. Sooner rather then later. -
wouldnt be such an issue if we were winning, then again, winning organizations have competent gm's

And while Rosenfels certainly has some experience with GMs, he is not the standing authority. There were prominent NFL figures and former GMs (including Carl Peterson) who came to Ireland's defense this past offseason.
Ireland certainly is not the first GM to piss off a current or former player. Nor will he be the last. The only common ground is the Miami Dolphins organization. We shall see how this all plays out.
And you may have pegged why he is coming out with this now because of this saga. Other than a possible phone call to Ireland by Martin's agent one day before [EDIT: day after] the cafeteria prank, relatively little has been mentioned regarding him. There was this "he said, she said" article between Aponte and Ireland that has been suffocated because of the recent findings, but unless something comes from this phone conversation, I really do not see the point of Sage's comment towards Ireland AT THIS POINT.
Sage has not been on the team in years. I doubt he has a pulse on the situation regarding what is really going on within the organization walls, so what's the point?
His comments on Ireland have no bearing on this particular situation saving possibly a morsel of insight on Jeff Ireland's overall attitude towards players. -
The problem with these type of discussions is that they almost always center around Jeff Ireland, when Dawn Aponte is responsible for the football budget, as well as contract negotiations. She is the Executive VP of Football Administration, as well as an attorney. She definitely wields as much power - if not more - than Jeff Ireland. Its rather disingenuous for these type of discussions to only focus on a single person, and calls into questions the motivations of those making any type of claims.

I don't prefer Ireland for many reasons. I hope this is the tipping point. However, Sage just clearly showed the Jeff Ireland was taught by Bill Parcells and that lineage. It's not like Bill Belicheck is known for his "care" of players in negotiations. That's just how that tree works. It's also referred to as successful.Colmax likes this. -
we wont win more then 7 games and for the team's sakes I hope we only win 3 more games so we can get rid of this butt clown of a gm.
I think Philbin is part of the problem not the solution but so many people will cover their eyes and say "see no evil "
its funny that dolphin fans are the only fanbase that will ignore the truth and refuse to believe that maybe we don't have the right coach or gm.
good coaches don't let crap like this go public . good personel men bring in personel who are supposed to be professional.
the best thing for Miami is to hire some respectfully known gm and coach to turn this club back into a respectful orginazation
