I'm confused. the playing field on the aircraft carrier would be for pre super-bowl festivities?
-
It would be a game between SB contenders cheerleaders on a deck of a US Navy ship.Sex is always a good card to play when you are running out of ideas :wink2:
Actually I have no clue but thought it would be a good idea....on second thought a horrible idea with all those sailors around and sexual harrasment charges running rife. -
A floating brothel? That may work, great idea. The money made would build a new stadium.

I don't think the NFL can hold us hostage, however, I wish this city would appreciate their team more, and become a better type of fan inside the building for their team, to make up for the incredibly poor logistics, maybe holding us hostage will wake people up a bit, Ross isn't asking for much, just offering oppurtunity that should be able to be seen..
In my gut, I think Goodell will award the 2nd one to us with or without renovations..keeping it away from us because we don't have a roof is BS, and it's mind blowing how reporters are not up his *** asking why not miami, when your in New York next year.. -
-
Whoa.

This is AMAZING.

Which threats? Mike Dee and Steve Ross seem to be making a lot of them, these days.

But again, this isn't necessarily about one or two things. The roof is really important. I know for a fact the kitchens are. The seats as well.
If you fix one of those, do you have a better chance? Sure. But I don't think there is a hard stance on any one issue in particular. In the end, its a competition against other locations. They're going to look at everything Miami has to offer, and compare to what SF has to offer, or Houston, or Arizona, etc. Its like buying a car. One or two features may not make or break a car, but they will have an effect when you're comparing. The biggest problem is that new stadiums keep popping up. It will become harder and harder for Miami to compete. -
And in regards to doing smaller-scale renovations on Sun Life, thats not going to happen. Financially its a much worse option, because they aren't adding enough value. A canopy doesn't really make Ross money. Taking out a loan for a canopy costs him a lot. If he's taking out more debt, I would think he would want something in return. What Ross appears to be going after is bringing attention to the market and the team. He always talks about being "best in class". Temporary bandaids and high levels of debt aren't best in class.

Here's the thing stringer, the reality is the stadium is fine as is as it relates to having a football game there, it's not a dump, the sight lines are fine, and there's plenty of club suites for the execs at a Super Bowl...
I'm having a hard time understanding Goodell holding us hostage because of some kitchen issues, and the fact that were an outdoor arena?, especially when their holding the next Super Bowl in New York in feb..don't you feel these indirect threats are unethical relative to our issues and what's happening in New York.? -

oh... this wasn't a joke?

Whoa this is some wild stuff. I guess you have to throw everything you can into the pot when you are at a disadvantage.
-
Dang. Thought the translucent football-shaped zip line gondolas would put us over the edge...

Please do explain. -

The stadium is fine for all intents and purposes and paired with the location we'll still get Super Bowl's moving forward. So I don't see the need to freak out like many are over this.
This has essentially turned into a petty spat fueled by Goodell wanting to stick to his guns on a knee jerk reaction following the one and only rain inconvenienced Super Bowl that has been held in S. FL.
It's legitimate for new stadiums to win Super Bowl bids so I don't think the awarding of San Francisco over Miami really is that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things.
It should have been expected quite frankly.
Moving forward however will say a lot more about how deep this spat goes. -
Are we expecting Filet Mignon being carried by vendors to those sitting in the seats at a Super Bowl or are we just talking options for the Boxes? -
http://www.miamiherald.com/2013/05/15/3399109/florida-tourism-sets-new-record.html
26 million visitors to Florida in first quarter of 2013, best ever. No split of where the tourists went, but I presume roughly 80% (maybe more) was split between Orlando and South Florida.
And this is without the Super Bowl. We have plenty of tourists and always will, presuming the state isn't eventually underwater.
It's nice to have the SB, but for Miami it doesn't make a huge difference. It's not going to move enough hearts and minds to change the equation. -
But its also a really big deal for the suites and boxes. Keep in mind that almost all of the suites and boxes are going to NFL corporate sponsors, the ones giving the NFL tens of millions every year to advertise through them. These corporate sponsors then often use the suites and boxes to seduce other potential business partners. These are executives of some of the largest corporations in the world. It may seem trivial to a lot of people, but providing an experience that is up to a certain standard is important for the NFL.PhinishLine likes this. -

Yeah, well...the NFL said it, so did Ross, if you don't fix the stadium, you won't get the premium games....shame on the voters who put those idiots in office the didn't give us the right to vote the way we wanted...

I posted a study a month or so ago about the impact and even in Houston, which has no tourism industry to speak of, the Super Bowl only generated about a third of what the NFL and the bid committe promised. Of course Houston built the stadium to get the team in the first place with the Super Bowl just an ancillary benefit.
