And 1 sack, he had 12 in 3 yrs at Clemson, he didn't stuff the run last season, and he didn't get up field very well either and if one reads the link even he says he has to improve on that skill.
This despite the "experts" repeating the mantra of "our De's really don't rush the passer in our scheme"...yes they do, they are just not very good at it. -

I wouldn't be shocked if Smith was elevated solely to motivate Vontae Davis. A healthy rivalry between Smith and Davis can only help this team.

I do not think that is what the experts mean. NTs also rush the pass in our scheme.

I wrote that in haste, however there were more then a few times that when I posited we needed more passrush from our De's, that "our De's don't rush the passer, that is not their job"...
5 or 6 sacks for two of them, that would make a big difference -
our DB's suddenly look awesome in their potential to dominate the field
bet a lot of NFL teams are taking notice, especially in the AFC East
when you add this to an incredible pass rush, I can assure you this is not going to be the cake walk of years past
